I was born in Suriname and have come to the attention of player Gian Issa from Suriname. He is the best tennis player we have ever had come from the nation I was born in. Where would he fit into a college team? I have connections with his family and have heard he is looking into college tennis. What level is he?

Could be a major factor on a ranked D1 team. In a future right now in qualies and beat Matt Kandath 6-1 6-3, beat Artem Baradach (former SMU #1) in 3 sets. He also took top recruit Wiersholm (UVA commit) to 3 sets. I was not aware that Issa was considering college but if he goes to college he will be a very good player.

Where would Wiersholm fit in this year's UVa lineup? Could he make the top 6?

He might be #6 this year, might not. With Alex Domijan and Justin Shane graduating, he has a good shot at top 6 next year. Hard to project.

Looking at his results he's the type of guy who would have a pretty broad range of schools he could be aiming at. I suppose one big factor is how much scholarship money he would need.

While he looks like he could potentially be top 6 almost anywhere he'd probably have to go quite a bit down the rankings to find a school where he'd be guaranteed to play towards the top of the lineup and hence attract the top level of scholarship money.

Next year's lineup should be interesting with those two gone. Any chance Frank leaves early?

I'm sure Daigle and Richmond will be chomping at the bit to be regulars in the lineup, but shoulds like they will have their hands full keeping Wiersholm out.

He's already in the process of signing an NLI with a good school...not a powerhouse program, but probably a good fit. Better to play, than to sit-out at UCLA or UVA imo.

not a 100% done deal yet. but, it's an FBS school in a good conference...not SEC big, but still ok.

the kid is a player. He just beat Olivier Sajous, who while certainly not world class, played #4/5 for Texas on the team that made the final 4 in 2009.

Issa ended up losing to Illinois signee Aaron Hiltzik, brother of the Illini's Jared Hiltzik, 6-1 in the third.

Good pickup for MTSU. He could fit in at #2 right behind Zito next year. MTSU is definitely a top 60 quality team but they had hard luck this year. They were TCU jr this year in terms of tough breaks and losses.

Also, if he does really well, he is close enough to Athens to get recruited to transfer. :)

Zito's an interesting player. Either the most improved I can think of over the last 3 seasons (of course there may be better choices), or most over rated. This kid from Suriname sounds like a very good recruit for MTSU.

That's a cheap shot to say the least. Very underserved and very unwelcome.

Couple of decent wins in November but a lot of lopsided losses early in the fall when facing stiffer competition.

Gian is enjoying life as a college player. He is finding it hard as expected because everyone in college can play. But he is hungry to become very goof for MTSU
