He won wimbledon twice with no grasscourt prep. We all gonna bash federer now?

Jo has been on fire the whole event...i can see him taking out djokovic..and nadal.

I'd agree. Also while he's a 6-time grass court slam champion he is a 10-time hard court slam champion, people forget that I think!

Sad to see but I think he was choking up as he left the court there. This will be so tough for him, I think he'll be kicking himself. He really, truly could have closed that match out, he will be thinking, he got passive, he didn't go for the kill. Not taking anything from Tsonga he served great and played to his potential for 3 sets which he doesn't do much! And that touch at the net was back that was so killing in his other great match, against Rafa 08. Watch out Joker!!

I;'ll be rooting for Joeey for the rest of the event, being my second fave, but i don't see him holding out against Rafa, maybe even Noel.

It's over. I have no idea what to say. The loss doesn't hurt as much as the way he lost does. I don't know if he can recover from it tbh...

I hope djokal makes it to the final, any other combination would have mental midgetry on at least one side of the net.

    Reason I hate Tsonga

    Reason #1 I Hate Tsonga.

It wouldn't surprise me after this great performance he loses in straight sets to Novak and plays without any of the inspiration shown today. (Shadse of 2008 Australian Open?) Typical frenchman, a lot of flash but unsustainable.

Did Fed just ran out of gas on his service games? Sad to see him go. The glory days are really over.

Djokovic must be the happiest guy on the tour right now.

Unfortunate for Fed, Tsonga had to hit a purple patch in this match But Fed's ROS was bad in set 5. He should have made Tsonga work more.

Great sportsman-ship from Fed at the end.. Commiserations to all Fed fans..

I thought Tsonga has the skill to do this, and now he's proven his soaring ability over the once most dominant Wimbledon winner of this generation. Such a grand result.

I really, really like Jo. I said before he will fancy his chances, and well....there you go. I'll be rooting for him for the title.

But seriously, I need a hug.....and for someone to save me from the massive Fed fan I live with.

Come on man, Jo totally deserved it. But he'd better not try coming back from 2 sets down.

    Alleeeezzzzzzzz !

p.s. i really wanted Fred to get his seventh.

I certainly don't think Nadal- Berdych was a fitting final for Wimbledon last year, but Tsonga's best is better than Birdman's. Tsonga- Nadal? Well he won at Queen's, IF he plays to potential he's got more in his locker than Berdych, with the net play and extra flair and athleticism.

As much as I love Tsonga and his game, I'm gutted. I wanted Fed to win one more Wimbledon. Too bad that Fed ran into the best form-player of the season.

I don't see Tsonga beating Joker. Really sad!

Notice that few Rafa fans posted here and the ones that posted were pretty neutral, didn't gloat on Fed's defeat. Now watch Fed worshipers flood Rafa vs Fish thread and turn it into [bleep bleep bleep].

This match has really upset me.Federer was vacationing the swiss Alps after gaining the 2-0 set lead.

Well, Tsonga has saved the mens tournament for me! At least it wouldn't be Fed/Nad again and we're saved the abuse that has become. Actually I'm fine with either guy, just not against each other anymore.

I<3 JW1 <--- Thinking of making that my license plate. :D

Tsonga played grass court tennis the way it should be played. He served huge, hit big ground strokes, came to the net and took chances on his Rog's serve. He has a great game to watch and I hope he wins it all.

Not really.Federer got the only break in the opening service game from Tsonga and then played a tiebreak. It`s not like dominated those 2 sets either. What happened was that Tsonga had one good return game each set after that hitting winners and that was that

Federer does not need to go back to any 2003 tapes. He is almost 30. He is done. If he can't win the USO, he needs to retire. He has been inconsistent for way too long. His best days are behind him pretty much. Sad but true. That is the way it goes in tennis. People have to accept reality.

Good match both guys, nothing to be ashamed of. Perhaps Fed could have gone for more in the last three sets, but Jowi was hitting a mean ball. Some beautiful net points from both guys.

Jowi really good looking, might pull it off. The guy is inconsistent and injury-prone, but when he shines, he shines bright.

My condolences. Look on the bright side though, Federer still has 16 majors and will be back on the North American hardcourts soon.
