Going nuts with contact issues

The contact in my left eye, for whatever reason, becomes blurry and irritated when I start playing tennis. It forces me to open up a new contact, which I carry in the bag, but nothing short of that works—Visine, taking out and cleaning, etc. And the second time I try to use the new contact, forget it. I'm not sure if it's pollen season screwing me up, but if so, why aren't both eyes getting hit? Doesn't make much sense to me, and it's a huge pain to have to change out contacts early on in every match. Anyone been through this? Solutions?

Go see your eye doctor. You might have an infection, edema, whatever else in your left eye that needs medical treatment.

You can also flip your eye lid inside out and check for tiny bubble-like bumps.

Anyway, go see your doctor.

unless someone on here is a licensed and certified eye doctor that can prove it somehow *rolls eyes*, then you need to go see the doctor. is your bad eye more bloodshot than the other? you could have a small cut in your eye causing the discomfort.

I started having similar issues with my contacts in college. I switched to glasses and never looked back. I don't need to be a doctor to tell you with confidence that switching to glasses will solve the contact problems you are having.

Some people seem to have difficulty wearing contacts.
What brand and kind are you using? Soft? hard lens?

One woman said that her soft contacts were fouled up by something in her eyes. She could not wear them. Sorry that I don't know the details.

The soft contact lenses are tricky. I believe that they should let some oxygen through, so I assume that they may clog under some circumstances.

I'd check that you have not gotten a counterfeit product.

I wear mine only for tennis. Three hours is about max. I wear them longer than the recommended contact lifetime.

my dry eye and just general irritation went away when i went with accuvue 1 day moist lenses. you're suppose to throw them away after each day but i extend them to 3 to 4 days a pair and my eyes never have any issues. i wear them 11-15 hours at a time normally.

Your eye doctor can give you several sample lenses of other brands/types to try out. Never had a problem playing or doing other physical activities, but watching tv and being at a desktop PC make my contacts dry out.

The daily lenses as mentioned above will be a cure-all but are many times more expensive than normal ones... unless you have great insurance.

I thought that per lens Dailies are actually cheaper. It's just that you have to buy so many at a time that makes them expensive.

I've used daily ones and ones where you change them out every 2 weeks or so. I personally love the daily ones.

OP, I've never really had this problem. Occasionally I'll get some irritation when playing outside, but nothing on a consistent basis. How long are you wearing your contacts during the day? Does it happen with other activities? What brand of contacts are you using?

When in doubt, ask your eye doctor. Eyes are not things to eff around with

It was revealed a short while ago that for one of the brands, the daily wear lenses were actually the same as the regular contact lenses. The people wearing the regular ones just cleaned and rinsed their lenses and kept them longer.

I like the acuvue oasys lenses. can wear them for long periods of time if needed. i thinj they also provide a small of protection against the sun. I wear impact resistent sunglasses if it's sunny out, though. (impact resistent bc i don't want to wear embedded, tinted "hard contacts" lenses.)

I got sick of glasses and tried daily contacts and had similar problems on court. I did some research and found a different type of contact called ortho-k. They're expensive but they're so worth it. You wear them at night while you sleep and they reshape your eyes for 24-48 hours. I wake up... pop them out and have 20/10 vision all day. Better yet.. they stabilize your nearsightedness and will continue to work unlike lasik which degrades and is often useless by 40. They run about 2 grand to get them made. Also.. no dry eye which is huge for me....

Dailies are definitely more expensive if you actually wear them the amount of time you're supposed to. Personally I have dailies and I just wear them 2 or 3 days before getting new ones with no issues.

I do the exact same thing. Accuve dailies and I wear them 3-4 days and then pitch them and break out a new pair. i've had no issues with my eyes. the "daily" thing that they label these things are completely BS in my opinion. You could probably wear these for a week and then pitch them and have no ill effect.
