I'll be going to the us open for the first time. monday and tuesday.

I've been to Cincinnati and indianapolis for the rca. I imagine the us open is a little bit different.

anybody have any tips that will help a first timer out? just want to make the most of my us open experience.

I'm planning on bringing my small hd camcorder.

are the practice courts easy to watch? is there a way to find out when a certain pro is going to be on a practice court?

  6. Go to the outer courts, like the GRANDSTAND!!! :):)

The day before you go, print out the order of play so you can plan your route. There will be a lot of great matches, and you don't want to waste time wandering around.

side courts in the first few days are better than the stadiums unless you have great tickets.

Expect to get ripped off on food. Expect to drop alot of money on food if you choose to eat there.

I didnt bother with watching practice as the side courts had live tennis which was extremely good.

and if you go at night pack a sweatshirt. It gets chilly at night there.

is it alright to bring a back pack? or is that off limits?

anyone know if the practice courts have a schedule or anything we can see so i can hunt down certain players?

My advice is to carefully read the rules of the slam on their web page, bring an extra memory card for the camera and have a blast!! Also, don't forget to keep hydrated and use a good sunblock.

Are you too macho to wear a fannypack or murse? I wouldn't bother with a bulky bag if it's just a day trip.

Haha. Come on, there is nothing wrong with them.

So all you need are keys, your wallet and a camera? I would just put the keys and wallet in her purse and carry the camera.

She'll have to get her purse checked anyway so you may as well keep both together. Just make sure she cleans out her purse first (we tend to let crap gather in there).

If the purse has velcro pockets on the side as well as a main zipper pocket does that still count as one pocket? This is where i got confused

Forget everything else, all you need to know is that Jelena Dokic is the 4th match on court 11 on Monday. Enough said.

Hi all, I'm actually cossing the Atlantic to go to the US Open from middle of next week, just booked flight, can't wait:)

I don't have tickets yet, where is best place to get them at this late stage? Is it safe to buy from touts outside just before going in?

Also I havn't got any accommodation yet, any recommendations? If anyone in NYC wants to put up a friendly English bloke for a few days, let me know, I can do the same in UK and get some Wimbledon tickets if that is any incentive:)
