good 18g strings that are somewhat durable.

    Ashaway Crossfire or Forten Thin Blend.
    Crossing with gut adds some comfort, a bit more spin, and a lot of cost (but it lasted most of a summer).

    Technifibre Red Code 18 is an excellent poly and lasts a long time. I use it as a cross with X-1 Biphase 18 in an 18x20 string pattern.

    I like Tour Bite, too - even in thinner gauges I 've found its tension maintenance better than average. Signum Pro strings are good in this domain.
