Wishing you guys good luck with the wildcard entry into the Tour event. No matter what happens, it will be a good experience for both of you. Stanford article reads :

Klahn, Thacher To Represent Stanford At This Week's SAP Open
Additionally, Klahn and fellow junior Ryan Thacher will also be participating in the doubles portion of the event.
    Feb. 7, 2011

STANFORD, Calif.- Junior Bradley Klahn has been awarded a wild card entry to the singles draw for this week's SAP Open in San Jose at HP Pavilion.

Additionally, Klahn and fellow junior Ryan Thacher will also be participating in the doubles portion of the event. Stanford's top doubles team is scheduled to be in action Tuesday afternoon at the Courtside Club in Los Gatos, with the time of the match yet to be determined but likely to start after 4 p.m.

Klahn and Thacher have won five doubles titles together, most recently at this year's Sherwood Cup. The duo reached the semifinals of last year's NCAA Doubles Championship.

Meanwhile, Klahn will square off against France's Gael Monfils during the night session on Wednesday, Feb. 9, playing the second match after the first scheduled contest at 7 p.m.

An All-American in both singles and doubles, Klahn defeated Louisville's Austen Childs 6-1, 6-2 en route to winning last year's NCAA Singles championship, capturing Stanford's 14th collegiate singles title and first since 2000. The Poway, Calif., native is a two-time All-Pac-10 First Team selection and was named the 2009 ITA National Rookie of the Year and 2009 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year.

Three weeks ago, Klahn won his second consecutive singles title at the Sherwood Cup and the fifth career singles championship of his career.

Making his SAP Open debut, Klahn is no stranger to elevating his game against the top professionals on tour. Back in late August, Klahn gave fellow American and No. 20 seed Sam Querrey a scare before dropping a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 decision during the first round of the 2010 U.S. Open.

Klahn, who received a wild card entry into the U.S. Open main draw after winning the 2010 NCAA Singles title, challenged Querrey for the majority of the match before a series of cramps affected his performance late in the contest. Overall, the match proved to be a great experience for Klahn, who also reached the round of 16 at the Junior Australian Open, Wimbledon, and U.S. Open in 2008.

This year's SAP Open field includes 2010 SAP Open champion Fernando Verdasco, 2009 U.S. Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro and former SAP Open champion Lleyton Hewitt.

The SAP Open will be played Feb. 7-13, 2010 at HP Pavilion at San Jose. Ticket packages and group tickets to the 2010 SAP Open are on-sale now by calling (408) ACE-2121. Additional information about the SAP Open can be found on the tournament website at www.sapopentennis.com.

It will all be over in about the next 10 minutes. I believe the boys chances to win is now past. It's not over yet. Let's see if I'm correct.

That's an impressive win for Brad and Ryan! They beat the 3rd seed of the tournament. Well done guys!

I wonder what's their ATP doubles ranking now? I mean they played only two pro tournaments and they won 2 matches already. Not bad for college kids.

With that win, Klahn's doubles ranking will be in the 350 range. He got his points partnering with Tim Smyczek (US Open) and Chase Buchanan (Aptos Challenger).

Thacher doesn't have a doubles ranking right now, but will get into the 730's with the win.

FINALLY! someone who actually realized that this match was a joke. Monfils was literally just hitting the ball in the middle of the court so that he could get to a couple ridiculous shots if Klahn could hit the ball in the court (for most of the match he could not).

Commentators were a joke. they actually thought klahn had a chance. Monfils was trying to come to NET, and when he did would just tank every volley.. biggest joke of a match i've seen in a long time.

all the talk on these boards about Klahn and his big forehand and serve.. Monfil just unloaded on those topspin forehand like they were sitting targets .. Monfil is such a great athlete ,he ran down everything until he looked like he was bored and started clowning around to serve and volley .. this shows how far the college players are from the real pros.. Klahn even had home court advantage with the crowd on his side...

Like said before, college tennis is college tennis... A world away from pro tennis, and how could it be different anyway? Apart from a few rare exceptions (J Mac; J Blake,...) college players are no match to pros. These guys spend a lot more time in the library (at least that's how it should be) than on the court. You cannot be competitive with guys who earn a living playing tennis.

In any case, Brad is as good as it gets in college tennis, so know what to expect next time.

And btw, these guys are more competitive in doubles (Brad and Ryan won their first match round in San Jose). Many more former college players make it on the tour playing doubles.

Playing today on Center court against Mellise and Falla. a tough team. If they can pull this one out then they will likely play the #1 seed next. We will know then they could become the next Bryan brothers....

Newsflash, they are not related so they could not even become the next Bryan Cousins. Wake up Feddie! You should be worrying about them turning pro before the end of the school year first!

it is a well-established fact that Federer wanted to play for Stanford, but did not meet the stringent academic qualifications :)

regardless, he remains a fan to this day

    Another thread hijacked by trolls...

For those of you who were actually interested in the title of this thread, all of college tennis can be proud of what Brad and Ryan have achieved. When you think they still have 2 seasons of college tennis to go and they play, and win, matches at the pro level, they are great ambassadors for college tennis.

Fedace would tell you Standford tennis only takes foreign tennis players if they are from England, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa because English is the native language. He said this once, seriously, he did.

To add context, he went on to say that non-native english speaking students could not get accepted to Standford and if they did get in could not handle the academic workload, etc.

Yes, he did, which is why this is a running joke on this board. A poser who claims to have a degree from Stanford sometimes spells it Standford.
