    Toronto's Daniel Nestor and partner Mark Knowles continue to roll at the Dubai Open.

    The No. 1 seeded doubles team had little work to do in defeating Czech teammates Petr Pala and Cyril Suk, 6-4, 6-0 in Wednesday's doubles quarterfinl.

    The pair will next face the winner of the Fabrice Santoro, Nenad Zimonjic versus Tomas Berdych,
    Radek Stepanek match.

    I was wondering if her parents are originally from Poland (Her first and last names are very common in Poland).

    All except one are of Eastern European origin except for one.

    (Are Hungarians considered Central Europeans?)

    Politically/traditionally, yes. But not really geographically.
    Hey, how come the druggie is still on there? Isn't she supposed to have been stripped of her rank?

    Marius, have you ever used the phrase "I'm going back to the futures tournament...."?
    That woulda been funny. You have my permission to use that joke, make people laugh, and spread joy.
    Cheers!

    unfortunately Wozniak lost first round:
    6-4 7-6(2) to KIX, Daniela (AUT), someone worse ranked, not good ...

    Dubois however won: 6-3 1-6 6-1

    Oh Marius, you're getting way out of hand!

    That's a great win for Niemeyer! $50 grand ain't bad! But what was Bogdanovic doing in that tournament? I thought he was way passed this level.

    Hey, does anyone know if a Dancevic works or trains at Mayfair? I thought I saw him or a sibling there.

    Who is Frank Dancevic by the way? He's quite young right? Has he beaten any good players on the tour, and did he do well as a junior?

    Mr. Kenneth Carlsen has the amazing record of losing most times in the first round in Grand Slams, and he's Danish too... (like me) :)
    Time to retire old man!

    Not sure what you meant.
    The Canadians _can_ play:

    -----------
    Stella Artois Championship, Queens Men's Singles

    F. Dancevic 6 4 3
    A. Roddick 2 6 6
    -----------

    I will be in Toronto during this event (Rogers Cup).
    Can anyone tell me, is it easy to get tickets on the day? Can I just turn up and expect to get into the main show court? Do I have to line up early?
    Any info appreciated.

    Not sure about Toronto, but no problems in Montreal.

    It might be difficult to get good seats (the 100s are given here to the sponsors), but you should be able to get 200 and 300s).

    100s should be available at the scalpers.

    Be there 1 hour in advance though.

    Also, I strongly suggest to get there in the first 3 days, to be able to see the players close up on outer courts and court no 1. It's much different than being perched up in the damn 300.

    Rhino,

    no problem getting tickets for first couple days. just buy the cheapest ticket and go to the outside courts. you get really close to the action. Montreal is much the same - outside courts usually provide the best way to see matches up close.

    I know the canadian can play. I meant it's been a while I didn't see our canadian against a superstar...

    Dancevic did great, he took a set from Andy and that's a huge hope for here.

    Wozniak and Dubois in Wimbledon Qs

    Unfortunately, they haven't done too well:

    Ladies' Qual. Singles - 1st Rnd.

    Barbora Strycova (CZE)
    def Aleksandra Wozniak (CAN)[23]
    6-2 6-4

    Ivana Abramovic (CRO)
    def Stephanie Dubois (CAN)
    6-3 6-3

    Niemeyer lost first round too.

    Dancevic, however, is in the 3nd.

    And that was quite a fight. Good for Frank!

    2 Gentlemen's Qual. Singles - 3rd Rnd.

    Frank Dancevic (CAN)[6]
    def Noam Okun (ISR)
    7-5 7-6(2) 6-4

    Great to see he was able to uphold his seeding.

    Guess Q's don't bring in any ATP points?

    Good job by Dancevic. I hope I can see him play next week.

    I actually met him a few years ago. He was in my grade 10 science class on the first day of the school year. But apparently he had his tennis commitments to attend to, so he was never seen or heard from again at school. Why he decided to come for that first day only I will never know.
