If you didn't see the Goran interview after his loss to Hewitt, you missed a classic. One of the many great lines that came out went something like this, and I paraphrase:

"I was proud to finish #2 to Sampras. He won 3 Grand Slams that year. The only way I could have finished #1 was to shoot him."

    He will be missed...

yeah, i thought his speech and loss was pretty classy. and by that i mean that he didnt get angry over the loss, its almost like he just enjoyed playing it. dave, i know this is off the subject, but how about chanda getting put on the olympic team. its a shame that many people from louisiana dont even know we have a top 20 player/olympian (i think) from our state.

It's great for Chanda! It's a shame that she's had such an injury-plagued career. She's had some great matches in her time.

You know Looziana...if it ain't fishin', huntin', football (or baseball if you're a Looziana State fan), it ain't happenin'. I should also mention excellent food.

From what part of our fine state do you hail?

i hailith from cen-la. im from avoyelles parish, but i wont say where. i hunt some, but i am not your stereotypical louisiana teenager. i am an LSU fan, put i dont play baseball. theres only like 30 or so people in avoyelles parish that are serious about tennis, and i know most of them. its a shame. id like to start playing touneys and stuff, but its almost impossible around here. i wish i lived further down south where tennis is big, it would be easier to start a little "career."

Thanks Goran for the memories. I will always remeber the first time I saw you play Becker at Wimbledon for the first time think 90 or 91. couldnt believe how big of serve this guy had and Becker had to be really on top of his game to win.

Goran made me laugh and I was happy for him that he won Wimbledon he desrved it. Class guy

The New Orleans/Mandeville/Baton Rouge/Lafayette coridor has a lot of good tennis players. It's too bad you're not located closer. You'd have plenty of players from which to choose. For you to do the tournament thing, you'd have to travel a lot, that's for sure.

There's a Challenger here. The first one was last year. It's coming back and will be the week of September 19th. Dmitry Tursanov won it last year (he beat Saffin at Wimbledon this year!). There is also a Futures tournament in Hammond about a month later.

LOL, classic Goran. Now that he is gone I hope Safin stays healthy to be able to give post match interviews. He might not be at the same level as Goran but he is pretty close.

BTW- I don't know what year Goran was referring to but Sampras never won 3 Slam titles in one calendar year.
