Just noticed that the price of a reel of Gosen OG Micro jumped 20% (from $29,00 to $35.95). I know Gosen is a favorite on the board (and I have been satisfied with it as well). My question is now with the price increase is it still the best for the price? Now that Gosen is the in the same range as TechniFibre SynGut would you go with that or stick with Gosen? Are there other SynGut reels in that range worth a try?

That's what I was thinking. Just got a reel of the 16G but was going to get a reel of the 17G. On the bright side I guess I'll get to the $75 free shipping threshold easier :???:

I never liked TF syn gut. I'd stilll recommend the Gosen. It only goes up by ~$0.35 a job, in any event.

I think TW saw how popular Gosen Micro is and decided customers loved it so much, they would buy it for $35.

I was shocked to see the price jump... just when I was about to buy the reel the price goes up to $35.95! I guess I'll buy it if no other retailer sells it for less...

I did notice a retailer than still sold it for $29.95 + $4.50 shipped. Probably will buy from there before they decide to raise their prices, too.

I wonder if they didn't just have a special deal from Gosen that ran out. I only know of two places that offered it for that price, the rest were always higher.

Maybe TW is becoming a little stingy. So much for ALU POWER dropping in price. :(

I'll still take the Gosen at that price. Haven't played with TF, but Gosen tickles my fancy :D

It's fine if it's $36 without tax + shipping. Unfortunately, the folks in CA have to pay 9.75% tax, plus shipping ($5.00). Only time it'd be worth it to buy the reel is if I buy a whole bunch of other stuff too.

I wonder if TW could tell us why the prices of some string are going up... (Babolat & Gosen reel).

The other sites I use when TW is out of stock of something also went up. It looks like Gosen felt the market would accept the increase. Still a great value. What other reel would you rather have for $36?

20% jump is a lot, and it seems people here are still willing to accept it, i guess Gosen made the right decision to up the prices

wat to do, they offer a good product at a good price

Well if I get two reels and a few overgrips, I'll get free shipping. Not too bad.

Death and Taxes.... they are the only things that are certain.... so you can't gripe about 'em :)

avoid the shipping by ordering multiple items rather than one.... I do it all on all my TW orders...... haven't paid for shipping since they started that promotion.....

Most of the strings TW sells come from foreign companies, so the weak US dollar might have caused it.

But more than likely, TW was feeling the pinch and decided it had to make up for it by making us pay more for string...

I mean, premium natural gut (VS) is up to $43, and even the basic stuff (TONIC+) has gone to over $30. ALU is $0.95 more than before, too, with reels being $10 more (they were already too much!).

i dont think so, it believe it is the string companies who decided the new year is a good opportunity to raise prices on some of their more popular strings - M.i.d.W.e.s.t prices has also gone up accordingly and i think it is too much of a coincidence

just bought a reel last week, but now i wish i had bought 5 more :(

ohh well, $36 isn't a deal breaker, but it does put it up nearer to the $40 threshold. so it just means that i will try out some of those $40 strings reels that are out there. hopefully i'll find something more durable.

36$ is a steal! In France, the reel of Gosen OG Micro 16 costs 115 euros! They don't have any other colors or any other gauges here. The JC version is 125 euros. Unbelievable. TW Europe doesn't sell Gosen at all, I had to buy it from US TW (even with shipping it was less then $50).

Welp seems like Gosen feels like they have climbed up the string world. Boycott their strings until prices go back down!

Topspin cyber flash increased from $5.xx to $7.xx as well.
Does anyone know if the reels price increased too? Now it's $75.
