Like most of the things Americans call "French", Chopin was non-French.

Wow. Chopin voted on his own poll and is, so far, the only person to do so.

And at that, only once. There are three Chopins sitting there without a single vote. How this legend allows his good name to sit there thrice, cold naked, without a vote next to it, I don't know.

It's no wonder Club Chopin collapsed under the weight of its own expectations.

Bach. Followed by Beethoven and Mozart.

Chopin does not figure in my top 10.

    With nothing to promote.
Well, at least this thread prompted me to check out Chopin in wikipedia and i read the section Final Year which was interesting. One line:

At least that Chopin had good taste !

^^ Also, interesting tidbit about having his heart taken out and buried -- i don't know if that's a common thing in the West. Perhaps reading that wiki article is a better use of time than reading this thread :)

Chopin was a somewhat snobbish dandy who wasn't above expressions of Romantic yearning and angst:

"A strange adventure befell me while I was playing my Sonata in B flat minor before some English friends. I had played the Allegro and the Scherzo more or less correctly. I was about to attack the March when suddenly I saw arising from the body of my piano those cursed creatures which had appeared to me one lugubrious night at the Chartreuse. I had to leave for one instant to pull myself together after which I continued without saying anything."

"The earth is suffocating... As this cough will choke me, I implore you to have my body opened, so that I may not be buried alive."

"I tell my piano the things I used to tell you."

One things for sure, we're both a hell of a lot more eloquent than you, my boy.

Attempted eloquence is but a sense of insecurity to prove superiority and elite logic when in fact none exists. Natural eloquence is arrogance. Calm eloquence is pure luck.

    Or something like that.

    stopping posting now.

I can think of a few more interesting Chopin-related polls:

    * From which psychological disorders is Chopin currently suffering?

    * Chopin is currently taking what medications?

    * If Chopin wasn't a psychotic attention prostitute, what productive activities would he undertake?

    dParis,

That's the score for this thread, which is a small win for Chopin, but the overall tally is something like this:

    Chopin: 200

    Detractors: 0

I rise, and I do so in the East.
