I was there last month (September 2009) and the indoor courts were totally empty. The courts were also filthy - they needed to be power washed. I would not recommend the facility.

Can't say much about tennis in Asheville since it was sort of off my radar when I visited, but the town is funky and fun and the GPI is wonderful. Had a great weekend stay there. Take in all the common areas, at least. It is nearly sublime.

My wife and I stayed at Grove Park a few weeks ago. We were excited to play tennis while there. We did a clinic on Saturday morning and the pro was very nice and ran a great clinic. It's a resort with a tennis program not a tennis resort. 3 outdoor hardcourts and 3 or 4 indoor courts. We were the only resort guests at the clinic. The rest of the folks there were locals who belonged to the tennis club there.

I used to play there alot, for free.

The courts are decent, the indoor courts are newly resurfaced BUT the lighting is rather poor compared to the other indoor facilities in town. Still not bad at all.

The outdoor courts are also fairly new.

The Pro's, Wayne (primarily) and Cliff are great guys. Both fairly young and enthusiastic.

Yes, it's a resort with a good but small tennis program, NOT a tennis resort.
