GU-signs on NFL football uniforms

    What do they mean? I noticed them when I watched the Vikings - Packers game.

    It in remberrance of former head of the players Union Gene Upshaw who just recently passed away.

    Gene Upshaw did a great amount to ensure that both current and former players were treated well by the NFL, and saw players pay increase ten-fold during his tenure. Did a great service for the NFLPA.

    OK, thanks. I live in Europe so I'm not really updated on a few things like that. In fact I'm just happy to be able to watch NFL games on TV...

    No problem it took me a few minutes to figure it out as well. The NFL usually doesnt let that kinda stuff go on uniforms, so its actually quite an honor to gene's family that the league respected the man so much.
