FYI, on Tennis Channel's Guga "Bag Check," he reveals a good half-dozen LM Prestiges (?) all outfitted with great-looking light gray CAPs.

That brings the Prestige Mid's CAPs' colors through history to four, no? (Burgundy/Brown, Flou. Green. Black and Light Gray).

I saw that on the tennis channel too. However, Guga stated he only has 4 rackets which is why "he can't afford to break rackets". I thought the bumpers looked gray because of scratches and scuffs. Maybe I'm wrong.

Oops. I didn't notice you said CAPS. I thought you were referring to the bumper guards.

CAP = Bumper guard that goes around the entire head.

Why does Guga only have 4 racquets? Isn't he sponsored?

I was wondering the same thing. I doubt it was anything to do with money or sponsorships. Maybe he just prefers to carry a minimum amount of rackets for matches.

What other pros have they done bag checks on? This sounds like an interesting show as I'm always curious as to what the pros keep in their bags.

about 2 yr. ago Kuerten had one of rackets stolen . He only takes abt. 3 or 4 said he finds too mant confusing & gets comfortable with them ; that is playing well & of course winning.

I've seen Safin, Maleeva, Ferriera and Schrichipan so far. Maleeva keeps a clove of garlic in her bag. She claimed it drives away the bad luck. Ferriera had a Lord of the Rings book in his bag. He also has a little toy frog for luck. I found it interesting that most of them kept some form of a good luck charm with them.

It's not really a show. The bag check segments are only about 1 minute long. It's just a quick spot between the standard programs.

For some reason, almost all the pros on "Bag Check," no matter the time of year, seem to find buried in their respective crap their old Aussie Open credentials. Never the Nasdaq, or Wimbledon ... it's always the AO. And always, upon finding their AO credential, they act sheepishly about it, a combination of, "That's still here?!" and "How embarassing for me that that's still here!"

It's pretty clear that the pros' bags' gross size is just an invitation to never clean them out. I mean, Paradorn carries around a book about himself, and without any semblance of irony! Uh, too much info.

Like many of the head sponsored players (count out Myskina), Guga uses an older model with a paintjob. Whoever thinks pro's change racquets every year because their companies come out with new models is deeply mistaken... if you dont get it put it this way: if you felt comftable with a racquet, would you give it up?

and again like most players, guga only carries 3 to 4 racquets because 3 or 4 (even 5) is enough. Unless you're agassi and change racquets every ballchange then u need a couple, especially in best of 5.
