For someone like Gulbis who doesn't need the money, why would he go thru thr trouble of changing sponsors and getting paint jobs?

He just seem like the type that would care so much about getting a few extra bucks from another raquet company?

Either way I hope he plays well with whatever stick he has in his has in 2011 :)

If I remember correctly he had a Wilson vib dampener in his Head this past year at some tournament.

I guess he could change PJ's if Wilson was willing to pay him better money. Could work out, its a big risk/reward thing.

That would be somewhat surprising, but I imagine that painting his Prestige's to look like Wilson's wouldn't be too hard... but he looks more BA with the prestige.

Wow. I thought Gulbis would maybe replace Safin as the Prestige big dog. Soderling is meh as far as marketability goes.

Is gulbis really switching ?? If so, it can't be for the money. He has all the money in the world due to his billioare father. Maybe he is playing better with the new Kblade. ??????

Which version of Kblade is it ?

Gulbis isn't using any wilson frame. He'll stagger into Australia, use the same PT57E (under what-ever paint scheme), fire off some amazing forhand/backhand cannon shots, and fall back into another party filled extravaganza for 2011... A real headline thread might read something like... "Expectations soar in 2011, Gulbis team anounces Safin as full time coach"

King Roger - I don't really know any of that and I am a big Gulbis fan. Gulbis is however known to be a bit heavy on the partying and light on the preparation (Safin liked his booze and women also :)) I would love to see Gulbis make a run at a major soon!

Seemed like an obvious move. Singe wilson don't have any young guns other than del potro who can carry the torch in the future.

At times yes. Consistancy is telling at this level however and Safin would himself agree that preparation can make or break even the most talented.

How do you know that his dad's a billionaire? Did you check his bank account? Are you his investor? Are you his child?

If the news reported it, I have nothing to say

You can't tell if a person is a billionaire just by his looks. The person may very well be owing lots of money to the bank to attain all his material possessions

I know his daughter and saw him many times. They look well off but I can't tell they're a billionaire family

Seeing the Wilson dampener with Gulbis's photo on the package reminded me that, several months ago, I saw a photo of Gulbis playing with his Prestige with a Wilson dampener. I figured it was a fluke. But after reading this thread, maybe not. If it were more important and I had the time, I'd look at some recent photos of Gulbis playing.

He is playing on TV now with against Hanescu using the BLX Blade, I don~t know which one.
Let's see how He adapts to the new racket.

Watching this too...was funny hearing Mohammed the umpire comment on Gulbis' frame while they were tossing up and ask him if it was stronger and Gulbis just replies with no it's easier....

It looked smaller, so I agree with you, it just may be the BLX Blade Tour, it is just the beginning, but I don't think it will be good for him a smaller racket for the level He is, since He doesn't move well and is always late.
    We'll see.
