Classic. Hey if Fed uses it why not him? That is Fed on the package right?

I'm on about 2 hrs a day depending on fitness and inspiration. .

    Fed doesn't use a dampener?

Why not? That's crazy. That PT90 is so un-muted.

True. It's got to be cause so many pros use all poly which makes the feel muted with out the dampener. Right?

Anyway, who cares what brand of dampener a pro is using?

He probably likes the unique feel of the W dampener. Gulbis uses full BB Alu Power.

Maybe he bought his racquet on TTW. It was rated 9.0 and the guy he bought it from didn't send the dampener it came with.

I'm really surprized no one has brought it up here.

I've noticed for about the past year. It was more obvious in the KB FL tourney. It seemed like every CU shot you could plainly see it.

I used to use one but they didn't look right in the 88.

Sevral players use dampners that don't"match" the frame they use. As Digital Underground said," Use what you want."

    Speaking of pro feel,
did you know that there is a Pro Feel (Comes with 2) and a Pro Feel Plus (only one)?

The pro feel plus is thicker....

I called him up today and asked, hes been using it since 2009 because its a more stable dampener than the shark head shaped Head ones which fly off.

Are these Wilson damps actually really decent then? I was under the impression the vast majority of damps are pretty ineffective and they are more for cosmetic effect?

    The Wilson dampeners are good.

Its funny last night I kept fiddling with my Sampras 'O' damps thinking the deadness of the Lux was from my damp scooting itself down.

Nah, the deadness was the 8 hour old Lux.

    Joel,

I am glad you decided to keep posting. This is classic. As anyone with a brain should know, "dampeners" only mute the sound. They have no effect at all on "feel".

For those that wish to argue this point, look up the word placebo.

I understand the pro stock W dampeners do have BLX Crystals that form an interesting bond to the strings and accelerate feel and touch.

    Joel,

Where have you been hiding PoliticalForum.com? So you got 45 KPS88 for your Bollocks 90 huh? Did you get Fed to sweat on it and sell it on FleaBay?

Nah I used the Bullox for 10 hours and turned it into a 8.5/10.

It now sits with the STV85, C85, PT90 in the forsaken pile of the box beam death grip.

Who even needs a dampner? I seen pros just tie a rubber band on their racquet. As Digital Underground said"...the humpty dance is a chance to do the hump...c'mon sexy baby."

Well Einstein, i've been watching tennis for quite some time now, and it was more like 9/10 players used a dampener until recently. 6/10 is nearly 50%, so yes, it is declining.

I usually used the W wilson dampener with my LM Radicals, just because it was the one I was using with my previous racquets. Last night the W dampener jumped out of the stringbed so I had to run to my bag to pick a new one, and grabbed the Head Logo dampener. It truly sucks, honestly, it is almost like not having nothing on it, the stringbed feeling changed completely, this is truly amazing for me as I was convinced that all those things are basically the same! apparently the Head dampener does not grab tight enough the strings, at least this is my opinion.

I remebered this thread and thought that maybe for a similar reason Gulbis is not using the Hhead dampener.

In Los Angeles Gulbis was using a black 'O' dampener--I know because I hit with him. In Toronto he was using a yellow dampener. He uses whatever he finds laying around. He realizes that these are not hi-tech devices but just little pieces of rubber--nothing more.
