    Yeah I agree.
But I think she looks great all around.
She's ranked number 9 in the world right now. She's getting pretty high up there. If she continues to play as well as she is right now we'll be seeing a lot more of her.

    Kirilenko+Vaidisova+Hantuchova+Sharapova+Williams sis etc

at the Bank of the west classic.
I spent two days at the Stanford stadium. It was great because the facility was small enough that I could see the ongoing matchs and practice sessions at the same time. I saw most of famous WTA players. Here are the impressions.

    1. Qualifying players : Some of them were surprisingly bad (especially service). There was a girl from eastern europe who looked really miserable and angry at the same time. She threw her racquet many times. She must have done that so many times in her life so it was almost a routine (throwing and than boom! right in her hand again). But there were some new talents too.

    2. Kirilenko was actually MUCH prettier in person. TV doesn't do justice for her. She was also extremely nice. At one point she had to go to the stadium to practice ASAP so couldn't spend much time for her fans for signing or picture taking. She was very apologetic. It turned out she was going to play a practice set with Sharapova. If you guys are wondering about her legs :), once again, everything looked much prettier in person. everything. And she was very likeable and she is not 6ft 3in tall. Now I want a daughter like her.

    3. Vaidisova was STUNNING. Compared to Hantuchova who is too slim (good for medelling), Vaidisova was PERFECT. Tall, pretty, and CURVY! She wore a beautiful dress too. But she was not seeded even for qualifyingmatches. Wasn't she world's 7th ranked player or something a couple years ago? Definitely she didn't look interested at all. There were a couple brilliant moments (especially service return). I was SAD. What's wrong with her...

    4. Williams sisters...when there were fans (many of them were cute small kids) waiting for her after practice, they just passed them ignoring. Someone told me they do that all the time.

    5. Sharapova: Hmmm, she was tall and looked very FOCUSED. So as a tennis player, I like her attitude. But she was no Vaidisova.

    6. Hantuchova: Seemed like a nice lady (When she hit a ball long, she'd say 'sorry' to her hitting partner). But she is too thin (in good looking way of course). Even though she was hitting very well and hard, somehow racquet seemed heavy in her hands.

    7. Sugiyama: With her japanese traners, she spent a lot of time in doing 'unique' training, stretchings.

    8. Dementieva: Her upper body+face was nice but her legs were of olympic runners, which is good for her tennis.

    9. Petrova: She was hitting very well and serve was good too. She is a big girl but has a small girl-like voice. Chatting and smiling with her coaches. Seemed like a nice girl (being nice might not be a good thing as a professional player).

    10. Jankovic: She was wearing a hat. Good looking bod and was hitting very hard.

    11. Bartoli: She was like a prizefighter or a bull. Extremely focused and determined.

    Winner : Kirilenko
    Runner-up : Vaidisova

    That's it guys.

    Great write-up, Gundam.

I'm convinced that Vaidisova doesn't care about playing tennis anymore. There's no other (good) explanation. Even at her worst, she should be able to win a qualifying round, especially against a player of no real distinction. Some have speculated that Vaidisova's playing to run her contracts out, at which point she'll call it quits. Hard to believe she's only 20!

Hantuchova is usually pretty nice, but she can be pretty moody, too. Double for Chakvetadze--watch out!

Sugiyama is a doll, and will sign anything that gets put in front of her. Watch her at the end of a match; she'll spend all night signing autographs, win or lose. (Her mom still follows her around, too, looking very serious.)

Sorry Mirza's not there (she supposedly withdrew). If you want to see a circus, watch the crowd that follows Mirza around. Now that she's engaged, maybe she won't have all the crazy guys with the gifts and flowers running after her.

Bethanie Mattek is a great kid to talk to. Benesova's not usually as serious as she looks. Shahar Peer is pretty nice. *Jogs memory* Drawing a blank at the moment....

    [Edit]

In the qualifying draw, look out for Yung-Jan (Laetitia) Chan. She's supposedly really nice.

I bet you could talk to Cibulkova, or Stephanie Dubois. Krajicek, too, if she's still in the doubles.

Keothavong is supposedly a tough one; she has a bed rep with a lot of fans.

Nothing recent that I know of; she's had long-running issues with it, but nothing major. It's probably precautionary. (I've seen a number of players wearing those.)

You know, I'd find her more attractive if I didn't see such a resemblance to Rafael Nadal.

    Kirilenko pics above

Where was Kirilenko playing at in those pic jbfan? She's a new one on me (as of this year) and I find her smile enthralling. My fav this year is Dominika though, she has the hair eyes and SMILE that just blows me away and imo has the best legs on tour for my taste, with Dementieva's second (I love thick thighs) I even had a dream about Domi last night. No kidding!

... or Byzantium? Not much to look at in this tourney compared to Stanford and #1 and #2 seeds out in the first round.
