    The Rocket today is 76! I actually forgot about it until I saw the Federer birthday thread today and realized Rod's birthday is the day after. A good couple of days in August for tennis greats.

    Happy Birthday to the Great Australian.

    pc1, Also from me a Happy Birthday to Rod. Ad multos annos! Maybe his greatest achievement was that he survived his 1999 (?) stroke so well.

    Rod Laver is one of my two GOATs. No player was or is better than the Rocket!

    I´d like to be at his party and hear him telling old stories with such humbleness and passion.

    That said, Mr Hunt´s family should give him the present he most wanted to: a repplica of the WCT finals Cup...or maybe a second chance to replay that bloody match point against Ken Rosewall? wouldn´t it be great if they did it at 76 and 80?

    Laver's greatest wins;

    1964 Wembley final df. Rosewall

    1967 Wimbledon Pro final df. Rosewall

    These represent his greatest level of play.

    The listings I have seen are incomplete.

    Dan, When you choose Wembley 1964 you at the same time say that Rosewall was equal good (see the score and the deciding net-cords).

    Laver played even better in the 1966 Wembley, in the 1968 Wembley and in the 1968 PSW.

    Rosewall was older in 1968 than 1964.

    Rosewall was not impressive in the 1966 Wembley.
