I must be getting old but I find it hard to string with black strings because they are just hard to see. My son said they had an Easter egg hunt in their neighborhood last night after dark. They used black egs and bought some kind of flashlight at a dollar store that had DEDs in it instead of LEDs. With the DED (Dark Emitting Diode) the black plastic eggs just glowed in the grass. I am going to borrow his DED and string some Technibibre Black Code strings with it to see how they work. I will let you know how it turns out tomorrow. has anyone else tried this?

I agree, black shiny poly can be tough to see on the crosses.

They are harder to see--particularly when the background underneath the racquet is black as is the case with my stringing machine. Brighter lights do help.

Only if the person is wearing all black, it's dim lighting, and the ball wasn't so fluorescent.

always thought a shirt with several tennis balls printed on it (all sides) would be fun, certainly i'd think illegal too.

t won't really help. Unless the ball is directly between your shirt and your opponent it won't be a distraction. if it is your opponent does not have to move.

Black string and Gosen Polylon Ice which is clear string are the most difficult to see.

If my opponent only looks takes a quick glimpse of my T-shirt, he would just hang his head in embarrassment and leave the court. Default win. :)

I can't seem to find more information on DED's. Not sure how it would help with black strings. I'm intrigued to hear your findings Irvin.

I find a magazine, turn it to the whitest page in it, then put the mag under on top of the stringer (ie under the racket). Otherwise, I'm crosseyed by the time I finish.

do you really need to SEE ? Usually just weave by feel alone

Just did a all-black bed onto a matte black 200G tonite, real murdered-out combo.

Wouldn't a white sheet of paper, white paper towel, or a light colored cloth towel work too? I guess for this purpose I'm thinking that a magazine page, even a "white" page, would have print on it or pictures which go against the main reason for using it?

The better you can see the easier it is to get the string the the grommet. With the DED I can really see the string better. Much better when the lights are a little dimmer.
