Has anyone had this wine before?

I was given this as a gift: two small bottles in a box set. They have 20% alcohol and are sweet and sugary. I guess that's not supposed to be the taste of red wine... but being sugar-holic, I like it.

I believe they are Port, which is actually a fortified wine (the one on the left certainly is anyway).

People usually have it as an aperitif before a meal, or maybe even use it as a dessert wine as it's sweet. It's actually really nice with stilton and other strong cheeses aswell.

You are very lucky! It's a lovely drink and it looks like you have two nice bottles. Enjoy :)

In front of my computer, obviously
That's not wine, it's port. It's an 'after dinner' type of drink. Would probably be good with some cheese perhaps. I usually drink port towards the end of the evening, while I'm watching TV or whatever, just about two ounces or so. There are port specific serving glasses, but I don't have any of those.

Cork it after each drink and keep it out of direct light, it should keep it's flavor for about six months or so.

Yes those are ports. The LBV would normally be considered the better wine. They are an after meal wine and are fortified. Never have those with a meal (unless your meal consists of cheese only and only certain kinds of cheese).
