At the risk of re-inventing the wheel, I tried using a vibe-dampener ]AT THE TOP OF MY STRING BED.You know an easy on/off , non toxic way of raising SW a few points. Has anyone tried this? Any calculations on SW increase, Any downsides to this? Any comments appreciated.

No it isn't, it can be under the bottom cross, outside either of the two outermost mains, or above the top cross.

Ah, I guess when someone told me you couldn't put it above the bottom cross I didn't think of the outermost mains/top cross.

Anyway, sorry, never tried it =\

Non toxic? I'm sure we've had this discussion, and come to the conclusion that the lead in lead tape is harmless.

As long as you dont lick it, suck it, eat it, bathe in it or store it inside your body for an extended period of time lead tape is non toxic ;)

LOL, Blames on you if some noob starts munching on lead tape and dies from lead poisoning:p

It would take a lot of tape, or a lot of time to get sick from doing it but as long as your just using lead tape on your racquet you shalt live:grin:

    of course i did

    a 2g damper adds about 6-7 SW.
    a 4 g may add 15 unit SW !

but it is not as good as distributing your wt along 10-12-2 o'clock.

i use it on my nephew's racket (a 23" very light one) to help him increase stability. And adding lead (a poisonous material) to a kid's racket is NO GOOD !
