Yep. It happened. A head butt was thrusted and landed on his partners chin, not during a USTA tournament, not during a pro challenger, BUT during a pick up doubles game at a local park in north Jersey.

THis older 60ish Korean guy is renowned for not tolerating mediocre play from his doubles partners. He is a task master who raised two daughters to be successful college and USTA players. So in this routine pickup doubles game the guy starts getting on his partner's weak play. I mean this guy is known to just walk off the court if his partner aint cuttin it.

So the partner mouths off back to him. They come closer, what you say, F you, F you and the Korean guy just head butts him which lands on the chin. The other guy, in his 50s drops, the H-butter then tries to kick him when he was down but was prevented by someone.

It's a true story. the head buttee is now pursuing legal action. He has a fractured jaw. The head butter has not come back to the courts since, but was spotted once hitting golf balls on the soccer field adjacent.

I have noticed many people who were a-holes in their 20s and 30s actually get worse with age, not better.

I don't know what is up with guys taking tennis personally. I had mentioned before about this 62 year old who walked out when he lost his doubles match and then called his partner names. Time has come for him to play his next league match, probably with the same partner. Word came in last nite that "relatives have shown up from out of town" and he won't be able to play for a week.

Perhaps the man needs to go to Anger Management class! Maybe he will get Jack Nickolson to help him.

Hmmm I remember a thread that also had a story about an elderly gentlemen headbutting his opponent.

yeah, that was a classic, shouldnt be too surprised given the tone of a lot of threads here.

next will come the question "what technique should I use for pronating the neck and head when headbutting an opponent":???:

Man, that's another reason why I don't like to play doubles.

I can attest to that. :)

Seriously, I'm surprised he didn't take him to town with his racquet.

Hopefully, the headbuttee will bring criminal charges against the ahole and then file civil charges to cover all medical costs, lost wages, etc. There is simply no excuse for this type of behavior.

    Yep, that was my thread.

We went to court, I summoned my witness and now I have a restraining order against him for a whole year.. the incident is on his public profile forever.

    Thats how it ended.

I don't understand why a guy who has a big problem with poor play from a dubs partner is playing pickup doubles to begin with. What does he think he is going to get? You are going to get a random assortment of players, many who are not going to be very good. He should stick to singles. Oh well he deserves what should be coming to him.

The worst I have seen from a pickup group is yelling and screaming at each other. The two people in question stopped going to these courts for several months and wouldn't talk to each other. But now they made up and are playing regularly in the same group. I haven't seen any of the violence reported on this board thankfully.

Update: The headbuttee has dropped charges as he is not really injured and doesnm't want to waste time with it, he is Dr himself and does't want to lose time / work. He's moving on. The infamous head butter does not come around anymore.

That's absolutely hilarious, but it would have been funnier if someone was kicking the Korean guy when he was on the ground.

I call this a mutual combat situation, they both got up into each others faces and said the "F yous" to each other. The Korean guy just got the jump on the other guy in my opinion and the guy got dropped. If the other guy wasn't being aggressive, he would have taken a step back, but instead he went up to the Korean guy's face and said F You as well.
That's why I find the other "head butt" thread suspect. If you get up into another guy's face and say "F you" instead of just backing away and trying to diffuse the situation, then what happens, happens. To pursue legal action because you got a beat down in a mutual combat situation, is pretty much (blank) in my book.

Turns out he doesn't. I saw him recently and whatever jaw injury he suffered was only temporary.
