How much does head guard tape effect weight? I didn't think it would but after I put a strip in my racquet felt heavier. Could have been psychological but...

It definitely adds weight. One layer from 10-2 is noticeable, but accpetable. Two layers adds a significant amount of noticeable weight and is not for everyone but provides the maximum amount of protection for your racket.

It's actually pretty harsh on the SW. It bumps it up quite a bit and adds some definite weight. It really depends on how much you use and where it is. :)

One of the manufacturers of head tape once advertised (or maybe it was on the package) that the tape (quite remarkably) does not increase racquet weight.

It's in the neighborhood of 2-3 grams for most people. It's 3 grams for me because I use 1.5" tape and I go all the way down to the middle of the head.

If you want an unbiased, objective perspective, go to TWU's Customization Worksheet:

    http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/customizationReverse.php

I think you'll find that if you do any customization at all, you'll want to take the weight of the head tape into account. At the top of the head, even small weights count.
