i actually prefer the prestige pro 600 over the prestige classic or tour 600 as well.
since you´re the expert, did head change anything substantial from the pro to the classic? i always thought they were pretty much the same.
also, is the u.s. version of the pro different to the austrian version or is it just cosmetics?
    thanks

So, Head is releasing a Prestige MP racquet for its 25th anniversary?
Wow, I can, uh, you know...hardly contain my, uh (yawn), excitement.

I was excited initially, when I thought Head might re-release one of their classic prestige mids, so this is a definite let down for me.

Why would Head re-issue the 660/102 instead of the 600/93? The latter is a much better racket which was used by many ATP players.

Re-issues are generally disappointing and you can buy old 660/102 18x19 Prestiges relatively cheap so why would anyone want the re-issue? The 600/93 18x20 are fairly pricey used. That would seem to be a better re-issue candidate IMHO.

The 25th aneversery racquet is not a re-issue. It is not 660/102. It is The IG Prestige MP (630/98) with a black and silver paint job.

Prefer the Prestige Pro 600 because of the cosmetics. There was supposed to be no difference or change between the Prestige Pro 600 and the Prestige Classic 600 except cosmetic. Also the only difference is cosmetic between the US Pro and Austrian.

thanks. i´ve played with the classic and tour for some time now and recently acquired 3 pros(2nd gen, austrian).
for me, they play differently. the ball seems to stay a little longer on the strings with the pro. something i really like.
the prestige pro reminds me of it´s cousin the elite pro in regards of feel.
only that the elite pro is a little bit more flexible

I have been a fan of PC600 for years until I recently bought 2 Prestige Pro 600, really happy with the decision. They have beautiful cosmetic and really shine in the sunlight. It weighs 330g unstrung but doesn't swing like a heavy frame. And like you said, Prestige Pro 600 and PC600 are quite different. Prestige Pro swing lighter, feels softer and has lower power. And like you said, the ball sinks in the stringbed a little longer. I put Volkl Power Fiber II in it, but will change to gut for more power soon.

i was thinking of changing from my usual poly to a gut hybrid, to see how it works. with full gut i would fear loss of control.
also i´ll probably change the caps in the near future.

File has been removed... Dang I should have seen this post earlier... Even if it's just a new PJ, with the same specs, I might get a pair if it looks good.

Kind of looks like a speed pro from the pictures (which aren't that sharp). I guess the plethora of red from recent models has grown on me.

I'm always the first around here to biaaatch and moan about the lack of plain, elegant black PJs in new racket designs...and now HEAD goes ahead with a black cosmetic and all I can think is, meh...
It's not that it's butt-ugly (let's reserve judgement til we see it in the flesh). It's just that for a nameplate with such a rich and esteemed heritage as this frame, it's hard to conceive of it in any other colour than red/burgundy. It looks just like a Speed Pro as it is. And going by the scale of the pics, the bloated beamwidth on the thing is approaching semi-widebody dimensions of around 23mm?

I dunno.... grey and green also have an esteemed place in this line (as opposed to recent Tron/Star Wars motif of the IG) :)

Any word on when these items will go on sale in the U.S.?

How often do racquet companies release new models? For example the IG Pretige came out earlier this year (I think) when will Head come out with a new model of the prestige (mass produced not limited edition like this)?

I'm eager to hear more about them as well. Trying not the get my hopes up since this is the only place on the entire internet that I've heard anything about this special edition. Have multiple sources independently verified this rumor?

So that's what Terminators would use if Skynet programmed tennis into them.

I'm still not down with the hipster derived clear CAPS.

    Peter,

Thanks, we definitely appreciate you giving us the inside scoop. I see your contribution to the board in previous posts and have no reason to believe you're telling us everything as you hear it from a Head employee. I was asking about seperate confirmation because sometimes one single person doesn't always have a comprehensive view of the situation, and unforseen circumstances keep things from panning out as they expected. Also, at the time, I didn't have the context that the images you supplied were intended for retailers to place pre-orders.

All that said, I can't wait!!

That's cool. Though im sure anything is possible, and who knows, anything can happne and they may not bring it out, but as far as i know, retail stores have alreay started placing orders.
I also cant wait to get one or 4 racquets lol

Any update on this? I went to 2 of my local pro shops asking about this and they said they didn't hear anything about it, I also asked them to ask the head rep and they said he doesn't know anything about it either....

I'm contracted to Head and they have confirmed they will be available Nov/Dec - reps are being given the details at a conference in Sept. Price and availability should be known after that. Should be interesting.

Pretty sure I just saw on TV Cilic beat Verdasco in Shanghai using this 25th Anniv. model, and if not, it certainly looked like a PJ. It was a black-ish colour with light coloured bumper. It didn't look like the dark blue Instinct frame either.
