For the past month or so I've been having pain in my left knee and heel while playing.
It usually goes in this order:
    1. After about twenty minutes of playing, my heel begins hurting. It hurts every time that I step down and push off with my foot.
    2. After another twenty minutes of running awkwardly because of the heel pain, I get a sharp pain directly underneath my knee that hurts anytime I take a step.

Its getting quite annoying and I'm really tired of it. I've tried different stretches and wrapping the foot but this only delays the pain.

I was thinking of switching from my Adidas CC Ultimate Edge to the thicker, bulkier Barricade V's for maybe more comfort.

But if anybody can recommend anything that would be great.

oh man, that's really bad. Change to shoes that are more cushioning or at least get some thick insole pads. Your knees and heels will thank you.

I have beeing using kswiss shoes, which are very comfortable but wear down at a great rate, and feeling great. Last Monday I played for 2.5 hours in some cheap u.s. polo assn shoes and instantly felt a mild knee pain. I suspected it was the shoes but still hoping it's not. Otherwise, I'll throw away that brand new pair of us polo

You can get some orthotics. The podiatrist has them for around $300-$500 but can be covered by some insurance. Or, you can buy superfeet for around $30 a pair and they work really well for me.

Everybodys feet are probably different. I was experiencing Morton's neuroma and planters faciatis (sp?) and changed shoes which helped. Went from Stan Smith Addidas to New Balance 803 with $20 inserts from New Balance also.

The inserts were recommended by a PT who said my feet tended to roll to the outside. The inserts feel like I have a golf ball under my arch when I first put them on, but then they feel comfortable after a few minutes, and I haven't had any foot pain in 2 years (but only play 2 times a week).

A few months back, I had bad heel pain for about 1 month or so. I changed my shoes (went to 1 size bigger) and the problem went away immediately.

What shoes were you wearing before the pain started? Can you just buy another pair of that shoe? This really seems like a lack of an arch support and the start of patella tendonitis. Wrap your knee like Nadal to relieve that pain.

I've tried the knee wrapping and it did help. But i recently bought a pair of New Balance 1003 and my heels/knees feel a lot better. I'll go ahead and get some inserts for the shoes also.

    thanks for the help

I actually made an appointment with my podiatrist and brought in a few pairs of shoes for him to evaluate. With TW's free return shipping, this is easy to do.
