Please someone out there help me. I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis back in August of 07. Had to be casted in both feet. Didn't help. Had shock therapy and am finally experiencing some relief. I have to wear tennis shoes. Now I am having problems with my achilles. Has anyone experienced tenderness to the touch?? I mean like not being able to let the sheet touch the back of my heel?? I'm scared and would like to hear from anyone that could relate.
    Thanks!!

I had chronic achilles tendonitis for about 8 years, sometimes in both. I am familiar with that pain and the sensitivity to touch. Mine hurt a few inches above the heel and were constantly visibly swollen. i think the two problems are closely related.

Tried a whole bunch of the practical things, some of which helped, and a couple which made things worse (like static stretching).

The single one thing that allowed me to solve this problem was custom sports orthotics. I had firm heel lifts built into these as well. I highly recommend you take that path, being careful to gradually get used to them.

Let me know if you have questions, and i'll try and help

thanks for the quick reply. I have orthotics (custom), but they hurt sooo badly. I am using heel cups. Of course I have been on the web and looked up sensitivity to the skin and immmediately got anxious due to the diseases associated with skin sensitivity. Then I found this site and hoped for someone that had similar symptoms. The sensitvity to my skin is almost unbearable. The only swelling I can see is on the side of the ankle, not the heel cord.

we must be talking about a different sort of sensitivity...my avhilles hurt to have them touched...it wasnt skin that hurt to be touched, it was my achilles.
