I play with Babolat Hurricade 18g on a Ti.Radical MP so its an 18 x 20 string pattern. I use the 18g to get more spin but its hurting my arm so I want to go to a hybrid. What's cheapest and most durable non-poly 18g string I can use for my crosses that will soften up the feel a little? I was thinking of Prince Syntheic w/ duraflex 18g but I can't stand it when I break my crosses before my mains are even warn in and the reviews worry me. I am a former college 5.0 player so I hit pretty hard and with lots of spin if that helps at all.

Hmm...I'm not sure if I'm right, but I don't really think there are any durable 18G strings that aren't Kevlar or Poly.

However, the reviews of Prince Synthetic are mostly for full Prince string jobs, I suppose, so you might get better durability than they do since you're only going to use it on the crosses.

Maybe you can try using Luxilon ALU-Power 16L Rough or some other textured string?

Yea, any suggestions on the softest poly 18g would also be appreciated. Also, I know an 18g synthetic won't be durable....I'm just looking for the MOST durable in that category so I can use it for a cross

Well just put in a 16 or 17g solid core synthetic; Forten Sweet really softens up the stringbed well. I'm not sure how it'll be for you, but when I used to do poly/synthetic hybrids, I always broke the poly mains.

Does it play wierd if your mains are 18g and your crosses are 17g?

my dads 18g prince synthetic only lasted him 11 days with only 3 times of play on it. my 17g prince synthetic lasted me about a month with tons of play time and i play with heavy topspin too.

You can use Polystar Energy for a soft poly which is very durable. It also has good pop. Or try ALU.

I have used big banger ace 18, i think it's a really nice soft feeling polyester. You might want to give it a try.
