Yeah but see it is so hard to serve and volley, as your main strategy these days. It is good to be able to do it, yes for sure but I am afraid that Rafter wouldn't be winning any slams these days, not with the modern game. This is why so many people on the ATP and WTA feel comfortable on the baseline, even at Wimbledon. With all the power and topspin, net play cannot be the mainstay of one's position. It is good to be able to serve and volley sometimes and I saw Roddick do it today and Sharapova is starting to do it at times. It is smart to do it at times to keep the opponent wondering. Variety is the spice of life.

If Federer decided to become a serve and volleyer today, he'd be the best serve and volleyer in the world right now. He has the aggressive shots and quickness to get into position at net, and plenty of flexibility and touch when he's there.

Even JMac commented on how he thought that Fed doesnt have fantastic volley's and look's out of place asthough volleying isnt first nature (kind of forced) Andrew Castle, Mark Petchie etc agreed

Well yeah, that's the story of being a Henman supporter alright. You get excited because he does something brilliant (Safin, Hewitt beaten, Greul bagel) and then he almost always let's you down by being suddenly lame-ass again. I've seen this SO MANY TIMES you'd think I'd know by now.

Ahh well at least my favourite player is Federer.
