As promised, here is my HEAD Prestige collection. B/c there are too many of them, I just post a sample of 3 racquets in chronological order as best as I can.. This Head Prestige collection comprises only MIDsize with CAP grommet and prestge mold except for Premier Tour MID (I will try to CAP this when I have sometimes). Some of the racquets does not have CAP grommet but it is CAPABLE so I put in MG Prestige MID CAP.. All of these racquets are either NEW or MINT condition.. except for the grips since some of them disintegrate over time. I played with ALL of the racquets in my collection.. There are a few model that I can't find anywhere specially the PRESTIGE PRO USA version (which has Italic "Prestige" & a big capital PRO).. if someone got one please drop me a note.... I hope you enjoy the collection..

Here is Head Graphite PRO (USA version & Austria version, with CAP & NON CAP). This is a serving MONSTER with the CAP on.. AWESOME racquet.. THANK YOU BUD for the ideas of CAPPING it..

Here is HEAD Graphite PRO European version with CAP & NON CAP. This is a BEAUTIFUL racquet with black CAP grommet. It is a little bit stiffer and heavier than the US model. The bottom racquet is HEAD Graphite Pro with Twaron fiber.. it's beautiful with metallic statrek paint.. The beam is thinner. It plays and feels exactly like Prestige Pro but lighter.. I will CAP this racquet soon..

These are HEAD Prestige PRO Special Edition European model.. They look gorgeous with full CAP grommet. It's 100% graphite.. It plays like a PRESTIGE PRO.. Great RACKET

Head Prestige 600 (green) with BLACK CAP Grommet. This is a so so racquet in original green grommet but after I put on a CAP grommet.. man, this is a weapon.. very stable with lots of feel, spin and control. The beam seem a little thinner than the PRESTIGE Pro.. great player racquet

That's the one I've got. Played it to death (very soft now and slightly lost head shape due to so many re-strings) but still can't find anything that comes close and later editions just don't have the same feel.

QUESTION: Have you noticed any change in the grip shape over the years OR in the shape created by the newer pallets? I ask as it seems to me as though the handle shape and buttcap on my Prestige Pro are slightly more rounded than on my iPrestige Mid.

I'm not JetLee2k, but I feel that my trek-font Prestige Classic 600s (as well as my Prestige Pros when I had them) were more rounded than the later versions. I even find a difference when I use my Pro Tour 630 (which is more flat/rectangular) and my trek-font Prestige Classic 600s.

CAPping the 2nd generation GP (with Power Wedge)

The 2nd generation Graphite Pro 600 on the bottom (with Twaron and Power Wedge) is tricky to CAP... due to the single Power Wedge beam design. I used the MG Prestige mid CAP grommet set.

I CAPped mine earlier this evening, after reading this post, to make sure it could be done... and it can (although, not perfectly or easily :D ). The throat grommets have to be cut as the drill pattern is slightly different (angle on grommet main #3 and location) than the other 600's. So, on these, I cut the last two grommets on each side from the center four (which fit nicely in place). When I string it later, I'll see how this worked out.

Also, the single power wedge design makes it impossible to CAP the rest of the frame, without first cutting the CAP grommet where the power wedge taper begins. On your pic, above, the grommet that lies right above the blue accent mark (power wedge begins here) is the location where it has to be separated. You'll note after... there's quite a large gap created, that measures 0.25", between the two pieces of CAP grommet. When I string it later, I'll have to look at this area, again... as the string will be spanning this 0.25" gap (on one side of the frame). It may look a bit funky... and head tape may be in order  Lol.

I'll create a new thread over the weekend with pics of the newly CAPped 2nd generation Graphite Pro with the 'Power Wedge'.

BTW, the racquet looks MUCH better with the black CAP grommets, as opposed to that cheesy, white, brittle POS that was stock on many Head racquets during that time period.

Bud, this is not the power wedge.. That's why I put it in there.. I have the power wedge version also.. it looks like that but it's wedge.. this is normal standard thin beam.. very strange indeed.

If you get a chance, would you take some more pics of the 2nd gen. GP with angles that reveal what the beam looks like?

    Thanks!

OMG, what a collection. I consider myself lucky to have only 2 of them.

That Head Premier Tour mid seems an intriguing frame. Do you have the specs on it? How does it play?

Maybe one suggestion. I find this thread fantastic, but if it was possible to take some photos of the sides of the throat where it says Prestige Classic (600) or Tour with the different fonts according to the different batches that would be awesome as it would be great bibliographical material for people to be able to distinguish between all the Prestige iterations.

It's soft & flex.. 16x18 pattern.. Tons of spin with power.. It looks like a tweener racquets but it is a serious player racquet..

I took some side way pictures and close up pictures but just too many of them upload to the thread which very inconvenient to load.. May be in the future I'll upload some details into a homepage or website..

I love heavy & stable racquet.. so the Prestige PRO 1st generation, TXP Pro, Graphite PRO Special Edition and the rest of GRAPHITE PRO are my most favorite..

Prestige 600, Classic, tour... and etc rests are alittle too light for me so it need some lead work to make it as a nice racquet

    Wow! Those are sharp :)

I bet those attract no additional attention when on court.

So, are the green CAP grommets brittle, like the white ones? Or are they decent like the black/brown CAP grommets?

i remember watching an episode of top gear where jeremy clarkson explains that an object could not be considered as an object of art unless it could serve *no other* purpose -- thus a car or a tennis racquet could not be considered as objects of art since you could drive or hit a tennis ball with it.

but then to some collectors, anything could be an object of art :)

Wow, I gotta jump into this thread. I am shocked and speechless.

To all Prestige gurus, is there a place where I can still get the original brown grommets for PC600? I know I can use the MG ones but I just want to be loyal to the original because of its awesomeness and I don't want a single change.

It seems the mold is the same but the beam is 1" thicker.. I tried to compare with both model but honestly I don't know which one better... The Graphite Pro feel heavy, stable with more blow thru.. The Prestige Pro has more feel & touch but not as stable & blow thru as the graphite pro...

I think the "bigger" part beneath the "U" and above the handle, on the Graphite Pro mold, made it slightly more stable. However as we know more touring pros prefered using the Prestige Pro, not many pros used the Graphite Pro, somehow.

The euro black graph pro is heavier and more swing weight than any stock prestige pro/classic. THe graph pro has less inherent power than the prestige, it takes more effort to generate pace.

The graph pro came out before the prestige era.
I remember several players use the graph pro mold like Mayotte, Frana, Sanchez brothers, alberto mancini, Wheaton, Sergio Casal....but I could have mistaken for the Graphite Director. I know for sure JEff Borowiak used Graphite Director back in 1986-1987 watching him practice at Golden Gate Park. One or both of the Gullikson twins used Graphite edge (was using Aldila Canon)

VSBabolat maybe can provide inside infos ..

jetlee, thanks for the pictures! I really like the prestige pro, I played with someone who had one and got to hit with it for a bit. For the MG Mid, what do you mean by "plasticky?" As in it didn't feel as solid as the older versions? Just curious since I haven't played with many Head racquets.

you are absolutely right.. The Euro Black Graphite Pro is heavy.. I did not weight it but it feels heavy and totally different feel than the US black/turquoise version.. no wonder went i play with it I could not get any pace.. well the string was pretty dead but still.. The Special Edition Pro seems more like the US graphite Pro version..
