I was on my school's tennis team last year but I am considering to stop this year. I joined my school's wrestling team and all I can say is that there is a huge difference (not the difference between the two sports, but how it is run). I learned just about nothing from my tennis coach while on the other hand in wreslting i learn something every practice. No one respects tennis in my school and the coach doesn't seem like she cares at all... Are all HS tennis teams like this? Aand should I just stay on the team and deal with the crappy coach? I reallyl like playing tennis but I feel like playing for my school is a waste of time.

No, not all high school tennis teams are this way.
But have you considered taking lessons and playing USTA outside of your school? If you like tennis maybe you'd like that better.
    Good luck

my HS coach is actually a doubles champion in my town, she has won may tournaments, shes a great coach and teaches us quite a bit, our JV coach is a different story

But yeah if you like tennis take private lassons, dont quite just because of a bad coach

dont quit at tennis if you really like it. congrats on the wrestling to man. its my second favorite sport after tennis. ive been doing both for almost 6 yrs. any way join the usta now and you won't regret it like i am. you pursuing(sp?) tennis through usta and camps then wrestling will open up a lot more doors for you after high school (athletic scholarships).

During my first year our team had a coach, now we just have a teacher who runs the tennis program but doesn't help out, their just there because if there weren't any adults we wouldn't be able to have a team. Tennis at my school is almost the same as yours, except 4 years ago when we won league.

Yeah I took lessons over the summer but because of some financial issues I had to stop. I'll probably continue tennis in school it just frustrates me that our coach seems to have no passion for tennis. The only thing really compelling me to stay witht the team is that I really like playing and the whole competetive aspects of tennis.

    I'd choose tennis over wrestling.
I"m REALLY good at wrestling, having played 2 years varsity football at under 115 lbs.
But given the choice, I"d rather be wrestling the women groupies at the tennis matches than the GUY competitors of a wrestling match.:):)

Just staying on the team gives you a great chance to practice your strokes almost every day and get some match experience
