If you can get over to Golden Gate Park, there are tons of players there where you might pick up a hit. Beautiful Park, nice facility with some 30 courts.
There are a bunch of courts around Durant near UC Berkeley too.

Another idea is to just pop in and take a lesson at any club.
The Berkeley Tennis Club is a famous club and I think walk ins can get a lesson. Will run some $80 but it is worth it for a one time hit at a great club.
SF Tennis Club has indoor courts if it is raining and pros there too willing to give lessons.

I play daily at GG Park. Look for the two courts with the wall--those are the pick-up courts. If you see a guy with a blue Lacoste cap and tortoise eye-glasses come and introduce yourself and we can probably hit.

American Templar I am here but in Richmond which is apparently a 30 minute drive from GG Bridge.

What times can one hit there ?

I will try to get over there asap tomorrow Tuesday.

    I also recommend GG Park.
It is a guarantee that you can find a drop in player to hit with.
    Have fun!
