Who's watching Hopman Cup this year? I might catch it.

Pretty good draw for Hopman Cup.

Djokovic-Tomic-Haas-Seppi all in the same group.

Djoker vs the future "greatest player to ever play this game" Tomic is going to be a real parade.

    Isner-Tsonga-Anderson-Verdasco in the next group.

    For the girls you have:

    Petkovic-Ivanovic-Barty (16 year old Aussie)-Schiavone

    Venus-Scheepers-Medina Garigues-Johannson

    Starts December 29th.

You are probably a kid, so your foolishness is forgiven.

But please stop embarrassing yourself with this "Tomic - future "greatest player to ever play this game" sentence.

Tomic is 20 years old, and 52nd player in the world. By that time, Novak won masters title, and was top 10 player. Rafa Nadal won 6 masters, and 2 grand slams before his 20th birthday.

Tomic is nowhere NEAR that. If Tomic EVER becomes top 10, he will be very lucky.

And no, Djokovic - Tomic is not going to be "real parade". Novak is going to wipe the floor with Tomic. It's going to be like 6-1 6-0 for Novak, and that will be the end of it. The only chance Tomic has is if Novak feels jet lagged, because he plays in Abu Dabi week before.

But, since Serbia is playing, with Ana and Novak, yes I'm excited about tournament.

I like the Hopman Cup - it's a fun way to see in the new season and they've got some real "personality" players in the field this year, particularly in Djokovic, Ivanovic and Petkovic.
As for Tomic v Djokovic, I'm tipping it'll be close - with not much on the line Nole will be taking it pretty easy I expect.

Is there a reason Great Britain is not represented? Or the better question, what determines the 8 countries that fields pairs? Btw, Merry Boxing Day, eh? Boxing must be the loneliest sport in the world.

Very good line up this year. Looking forward to watching Petkovic in the mixed if Germany are 2-0 going into it.

This would be so much better if Rafa was playing in it. Rafa could have played with Sanchez Vicario and could have won this.

Just an indication on how fast this year has gone, I completely forgot this started today.

South Africa vs Spain at the moment and Anderson leads Verdasco 4-3 in the first.

I laughed when, before the match, Darren Cahill said that based on what he saw during the training in Vegas, he was confident that Verdasco will beat Kevin Anderson in straight sets. He completely underestimates Kevin there.

Welcome to the hell we have to endure for 11 months of the year!

Although none of our local free to air TV stations are broadcasting any of the tennis including the AO in high def. Apparently 5% of our population still don't have HD TVs so the rest of us have to suffer so the stations don't miss out on ratings.

SportCentre broadcast every event other than the Slams. TSN broadcasts all the slams....so can't lose tennis in Canada right now.

    Thank you Raonic!

Good to see Tomic beat a player ranked above him FINALLY. Maybe he will change his attitude this year and actually put in some effort.
Off topic: Anyone know why Razoredge was banned? He didn't seem to have made any offensive posts recently.

ETA: This should be in the Pro Match Results section.

Not too sure about banning, but Tomic should beat a lot of players above him, as his ranking has slipped so far.

But yeah you are right, if he pulls his head out of his own ***, he could really go somewhere. It is a shame, 'cos I met the kid and he seemed really polite and humble.

Admittedly, this was a few years ago in the presence of some of the Australian greats so maybe it was a put on.

Expect Tomic to try and make a splash at AO. He made it all the way to Fed last year, I remember. I expect another deep run this year.

The Tomic win was certainly helped by Haas spraying shots at important moments. However, some media outlets have interpreted the result as the start of Tomic coming back from 'tough times'. Losing your job or needing root canal are tough times. They don't count as tough times when they come about from being a d-bag.

I'm certainly no apologist for Tomic and the problems he's had in 2012 are all of his own making. But regardless of what Haas did or didn't do, Tomic played a positive brand of tennis at the important moments.

He made some great passing shots down the line and didn't just try to grind out his opponent with obtuse slice shots. His serve was a bit better than usual and he even managed to be a bit animated and get the crowd behind him.

Wednesday night against Djoko will be the real test ...

What was good was that he fought back when Haas had the leads. Came back from 1-6 down in the tiebreak....and a break down in the third.

Not the usual tank he played on Roddick.
