I like this one. How many slams has Fed won when Nadal is in the draw? I count 8.

And Sampras never had to play at FO any candidates for the title of the greatest clay courter of all time.

Except Federer was younger and before his prime. Silly comparison.

That was at the start of Fed's career. What a stupid comparison.

how long can stubborn sampras fans hold on? fed will get between 16 and 20 grand slams and eclipse sampras' record of 14. IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. brace yourselves.

Well, I've read an article in Tennis magazine that compared both. It was very interesting. That said, when did you guys noticed Sampras slowing down? circa 1998?

    Thomas Muster? Gustavo Kuerten?

Or the only two people who could be considered are Nadal and Borg?

And how odd, Sampras beat Muster in 5 sets in FO 1st round, when none of them were the tennis force they're known for (muster peaked around 94-96)

And ATPTennis.com doesn't work anymore here, so I can't check if Kuerten and Sampras played each other at FO :p

Edit: It works now. No, no he didn't play Kuerten :p

No Sampras never played Kuerten, Ferrero or Moya on the red stuff.

He was 0-2 v. Chang on dirt.

But he did register wins against RG winners, Gomez, Courier, Bruguera, Muster, Kafelnikov, Agassi and Costa on clay.

What else do Fed and Sampras share in common? They both will never win the French Open.

I know. But according to the other guy's post, Nadal never had to face any candidate for "greatest claycourter".

    Muster doesn't qualify?

sampras fans and fed haters need to chill. federer will probably eclipse sampras' domination and grand slam run. that doesn't mean sampras is worthless he's still one of the greatest players ever no matter what. will anyone ever have a serve that can even compare? probably not.
