How can I make an Extreme MP play like an Extreme Pro?

I recently bought two Extreme MPs from two TT users in the classifieds section and Im looking to make them play similarly to my Extreme Pros. I know the stiffness will be one thing I will be unable to change, and I am going to do a length modification on the two mps to take off two tenths of an inch off the grips. But after I do the cuts on the grips, where will I most likely need to add lead? I think the Pro is about an ounce heavier than the MP. and 5 points head lighter than the MP as well, so I majority of the lead will have to be added under the grip, and some around the hoop, but not too much.

    What are your thoughts?

TW's racquet modification tools are your friend. Put in the current specs of the Mp, then ask for the end specs of of the pro, and the tool will tell you where you need to add lead.

2/10's of an inch off the grips sounds like a waste of time to me...you can just choke up a hair and it's the same result.

Choking up is a negative for me, I have a grip like soderling, my pinky hangs off the end as well as part of my palm, anything higher than that feels weird.

Which generation of Extreme's are you talking about? MG? Youtek? IG? IG 2.0?

If it's IG 2.0 it's very easy to match the MP to the Pro.

OK, so you've got three IG Extreme Pros (not 2.0) and you want to match two Youtek Extreme MPs to those? I'm sorry to say but this can't be done. TW's specs:

    IG Extreme Pro
    332 grams
    33 cm (4HL)
    321 swingweight

    Youtek Extreme MP
    309 grams
    32 cm (7HL)
    324 swingweight

The problem is the balance of the Youtek Extreme. It's more headlight than the IG Extreme Pro but the swingweight is just a little higher. You need to add 13 grams to the Youtek Extreme to match the weight of the IG Extreme Pro, but there is no where to add it without A) making the Youtek Extreme even more headlight, or B) increasing the swingweight too much. These two frames cannot be matched.

TW has the IG Extreme Pro on deep sale right now. I would suggest you grab a couple of those and ditch the Youtek Extreme MPs.

I think Ill keep these MPs, I like the lighter feel and easier swing that they provide, not to mention more flexible, I still prefer the pro, more spin and plowthrough. Ill keep the MPs for sore achy days or whenever.

i think it can be matched if you saw off the extra .25 inches and add the appropriate weight in head and handle, but i wont feel the same because the pro's extra weight is distributed more evenly throughout the racquet and your extra weight would be concentrated in 2 places

Maybe, but id have to find an RDC to put it in after I take off that extra .2 of an inch, then go from there. It may just make it even more impossible. I kinda like how the MP feels, softer and easier on the arm, yet not as hard hitting and penetrating as the pro is.

Ah, I didn't notice that the MP is 27.2". Removing that .2 of an inch will help, but I still don't think you'll get there. Cutting that bit off should drop the swingweight by about 6 units and lengthen the balance a little bit. So you might end up with specs of:

    304g
    32.2 balance
    318 swingweight

From there, you could add a bunch of mass to the throat, but by the time you get up to 330 grams you'll either be too headlight (if you add lower in the throat) or with too high a swingweight (if you add higher in the throat). I've shortened quite a few racquets and done lots of customization and I don't see how this project is possible. If you decide to go for it, though, good luck!

I played with the MPs again this evening, Im becoming more attracted to these every time. Im a new extreme user (1 or 2 months) I used to use the YT prestige MP. My kick serve (probably my best shot second to my forehand), was decent with the prestige, had a pretty good sideways kick to it. But the extreme just accelerates the spin and speed of it. Not to mention Im getting more pop, a little less stability than the prestige, but Im equally liking the three frames right now.

They are bone stock. I think the first IG pro is a good bit stiffer than the 2.0, and a tenth of an ounce heavier than the 2.0. Other than that theyre pretty similar to eachother, I think the only thing they really changes were the grommets. I havent hit with the 2.0, but Im going to demo it tomorrow at the local pro shop with the ball machine.
