So I am from Minnesota and have started playing tennis fairly recently and don't have a lot of friends that are decent at tennis, or are willing to spend the time to get better. On the other hand I really want to get better!

My dilemma is that I don't know where to start to find someone to hit with. What are some of your guys' recommendations?

Well, you can ask here, or:

Go to www.usta.org and make an account to ask around.

Maybe even go to your nearest club. ^^

Hang around public courts ..not paid courts..
Found few of the guys I hit like that..luckily there is a wall there and funny that you can meet other people looking for partners there.. and the good thing about the wall is.. you get an idea how they hit as well
Found a few by asking on Craiglist (as I was new in town) .. maybe kind of lame
Finally by joining the USTA league..

Take tennis lessons from community college or park & rec. After lessons, ask some of them if they want to hit or play outside of lessons. Once you have their email or telephone #, you're 'good to go.'
