Most of his shots are obviously in. No one would intentionally shoot a video of themselves hitting the ball out, even if the camera angle doesn't show where the ball is landing. You didn't account for the fact that he's pretty short, so his contact point is at least six inches to a foot lower than what you and I are used to seeing.

The insane racquet head speed that he is generating points to a LOT of topspin that is likely keeping the ball well in the court.

Someone's daddy worked long and hard on perfecting that FH technique!

I hate to say it but this kids' strokes, in a few years will be more powerful than Roddicks whippy-wipe forehand. I like how he hits through the ball going forward.

That kid is remarkably good. I wonder how tall his parents are and how he stacks up against kids his age in terms of footspeed?

Just watching the film, he looks like a future touring pro.

Is it just me, but it seem to me that all that racket head speed might come at a price. It looks really wristy, his FH. If you're going to give me crap about hating on the kid or being jealous, seriously, no. I'm just saying that's what it looks like to me and I only wished I had discovered this awesome sport that is tennis, much earlier.

I started when I was 6 fortunately. But do you guys notice the noise he hits the ball? It is like a chip much different to other people playing indoors.

Yeah, at 10 how will he fare out in 5-8 years? Lots of kids are great at that age and end up injured or burnt out.

Are you kidding me ?? This kid has something special. That racket head speed is beyond incredible at 9 years of age. i would hate to see what it would look like in 3 years. Look at all the kids competing at NIKE Junior 12 and under tournament. 90 % of those kids doesn't have racket head speed like him.

i saw this kid's video on youtube the other day and was gonna post it up. the kid's flat out great. i think saram is being generous. i bet he could take out 90% of the posters on these forums. and by the time he hits junior high or high school -- he's gonna be ridiculous.

He sure is talented. As others have said great footwork and racquet head speed.

I am no expert so I am ready to stand corrected but to me his forehand technique looks a bit iffy. The 2 main issues I notice are:

1. His takeback is huge with the racquet hand going above head height and the racquet head going behind the line of the shoulders. For most players this would cuase a problem with consistancy and they would tend to be late on faster balls. The kid is getting gentle feeds here so we do not know how that technique stands up under pressure.

2. He does not seem to have much of a 'pat the dog' step in his forehand. The racquet hardly drops below the height of the ball at all and I also notice that the racquet face looks somewhat open at the back of the backswing. This could indicate that he is taking the racquet back with the elbow and the supination is causing the face to open. On gentle feeds he looks to have the talent to compensate and get away with it but under pressure it could well break down.

What do others think?

I couldn't see him beating me. He's got better and faster strokes than me, But I Can handle pace and I can't see him getting my drop shots or angle shots. I think foot speed would be an issue for him.

heh, yah, I've been slackin'. How've you been? Looks like you're still recruiting the one-handers. Someone needs to convince this child prodigy to go 1-handed. It would be epic.

There is a world of difference between playing/winning a match and hitting deadball feeds... the kid is good, but I can only see a video of "1" side of the court... most/if not all 3.5 players would/should "whoop" this kid in a match.

"Pat the dog" is a fabrication... means nothing unless you buy it as a necessary step to a FH... the ONLY thing that matters is

1) takeback (which can be as HUGE as you want it to be... if you time the ball)

2)contact

3) follow-thru. Forget "pat the dog" as soon as you possibly can... it means nothing.

We just broke the 100 member mark, I'm proud to say. One of them is an ATP pro.

Worked on my backhand today. It's getting there, just another 10000 balls or so and it'll resemble a backhand of sorts. Got any new epic videos for the community?

But then again there are a lot of talented tennis players these days..especially in the juniors...this makes me wonder what tennis is gonna be like in the next 10-15 yrs? baseline rallies at 150mph? :shock:

NOICE! Who's the pro?

I was thinking of making a vid soon. I know my forehand and especially my backhand have changed so I was curious what they look like. I know my volleying has improved a great deal.

It's obvious that he's been well instructed. If he continues at this pace, he'll be a very good player in the future. I like his backhand better than the forehand, at this point. He looks very solid on the BH and a bit goosey on the FH - but only in a relative sense. He may try to hit it too hard vs. control. It'll get there, though. All in all, nice game for a 10 year old. Heck, darn good for an older kid, too.

I'm not a two-hander so I don't have too much to say about his BH, but I definitely think his FH is great for his age or older, but ESPECIALLY for his age. His takeback is breaking the imaginary plane behind his back, but I think as he gets older and stronger, that will disappear.
