and never played a top 20 player.

    Andy Roddick

Could this me another Wimbledon. Left in his half is clay court specialist, injured players, and players with losing records for the year. Hewitt / Nalbandian match then Roddick next day. But like the U.S. Open or WWF officials said, a Roddick / Agassi matchup in the finals will put the most butts in the seats.

Definitely an easy draw! But most of his matches are at night, so we can watch some great tennis in the other half in the heat.

    3 Questions:
    Do you gamble?
If so, are you going to place a big bet on Andy to make the finals?
    If not, why not?

I checked the odds, and Roddick is a 1 to 9 favorite of making the finals. .10 on the dollar is not a good bet. Maybe 2 to 1, I would bet.

Federer has longer odds of making the final, of course he has a harder draw.

I guess the oddsmakers didn't look at the draw.

barry is correct. the whole world is conspiring to put andy roddick into the finals. The babolat stringing machines are intentially stringing the top 20 players' racquets 2.6# lower than usual so that they will lose unexpectedly. no one has noticed this except barry who must be exceptionally brilliant. yes, how can you expect roddick to go through a draw and just play the people in front of him? why he should also be playing the people that lost and some that didn't get into the draw like that guy that took out federer in the olympics. thanks for putting this out for us. please make another post in case people do not see this one so that they don't miss out on your brilliance.

Bashing roddick for his placement in a completely random draw? LOL

So tell me, do you approve of his draw last year at the Open? I mean, he only had to play the highest ranked player possible in the 1st rd.

Point is it was not a completely random draw. Grand slams should seed based on the 128 ranking system. Why place players in draws other than to protect certain players. You earn rankings and rankings should determine seeding in a tournament.

U.S. Open is more about making money than about who is best at tennis. It is about filling the stands. They have been hyping Roddick for the last 2 years as a replacement for Sampras and Andre Agassi. Agassi still fills the stands but gets a tougher draw than Roddick.

For those that do tournaments you know the values add up to 129,65,33,17,9,5.. The top player plays the lowest ranked player, in that case if would have been Jenkins 1400 in the world, but Roddick the #2 seed played him. 1 should play 4, 2 should play 3, etc... It is the way it is suppose to work.

Makes things fair for everyone. That is my gripe.

I absolutely agree with Barry, and hereby nominate him to run the USTA. One suggestion, ban PD plus. I mean EVEN I can hit 150 mph bombs and be the world number 2 player with that cheating stick. I just chose not to for the integrity and the love of the game.

But that's not the way tennis has worked, nor has it ever.

The seeds are placed in the draw, and then every remaining spot is filled by a random lottery.

Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. Roddick ended up playing Tim Henman in the 1st rd of the US Open last year....this year he got a wild card. There is no conspiracy to protect players. How do you think the seeds got their ranking in the first place? THEY EARNED IT.

Don't worry, Barry will keep going on and on about all this. And he will continue refusing to say why Roddick got Henman in the first round last year. I never do this but I have to say that Barry; you, my friend, are an idiot.

PS: Go Agassi. Win one for the starving children in Africa!
