I don't know if anyone else in here watches this Starz series but it's nothing short of amazing. Who else could slaughter six main characters in one show in such imaginitive, gory ways. I love it ! I love how the season finale is the end of a chapter and not some stupid cliffhanger to annoy you for an entire offseason. The creator promises spectacular sets, bigger battles and tremendous carnage next season. :) I for one can't wait.

Amazing. And shocking. I mean, what the hell, I'm pretty comfortable watching disturbing scenes but this episode hit me.

    5/5

PS: Too bad it's a foregone conclusion :) But still, I'll watch it to the end. I suppose there will be 4 seasons max.

    Vengeance?

I've only seen Blood and Sand and the last episode was pure BA.

Yes the Vengeance finale from last night. Blood and Sand? That was amazing but you have missed the last two seasons.

Too bad we know they all die, especially when you start liking some characters. I wanted to stab Llithia when she made Spartacus kill Varro in the first season. I liked Oenamaeus (spelling?) too but the history is kind of unavoidable.

This is one of my favorite TV shows.

I don't think it's as good as season 1, but still very entertaining.

Real shame what happened to Andy Whitfield :(

The part where she jumped off the cliff ya that part made me a little uncomffie. Great way to finish her character but ya not something I wanna watch over and over.

Anyone else cheer when Spartacus kills Glabor?

I wished Ashur had survived the finale. I liked his character a lot. It was well written and the actor played it so well. I had hoped that somehow he would become richer and more powerful with time before his end comes.

Have you seen "Game of Thrones" ?

Spartacus, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad are good, but Games of Thrones is in another league.

Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Justifed (best writing on TV period) and Spartacus are all the best things on TV right now. Funny that all are from cable networks. Each is great and fills a certain niche - But Sparticus is freaking BAT AS*'CRAZY!!!!!! My wife and I never miss it - and Lucy Lawless OMG!!!! Trivia fact is that her Husband is the producer of the show and must all the actors are Kiwis or from OZ. I could get love Kiwi TV if it's all like this....hahaha

Don't forget Sons of Anarchy starts in a few after Justifed gets done this season - another show full of fun and wack jobs!

I liked Spartacus more. I am a history nerd so I guess ancient Rome does it more for me than a fiction story. Game of Thrones is good and I enjoy it but Spartacus is better in my eyes.

Sons of Anarchy is the only other show I really watch weekly. After every episode I find myself wanting a bike so good advertising for harley on that one.

"Game of Thrones" has the benefit of having G.R.R. Martin behind the books :) There's no comparison, really.

"The Walking Dead" is... not as good as it should be. Honestly, by season 2 the characters have already made every possible idiotic decision. Useless drama.

I like the walking dead, whatever it may be missing, it's still good zombie killing fun plus they don't pull too many punches there either. I haven't seen game of thrones. No hbo. Maybe buy the DVD if it's really good. My other fav is 'the killing' on amc . Really good crime drama where they go the whole season on one case. Starts soon i think. Spartacus is unbelievable. The fact that it's totally no.holds.barred. Just keeps you on edge. And roman history. You could make hundreds of movies on it.

The only negative thing (a very minor complaint) about Game of Thrones is that due to the limited HBO budget they have had to save $$$$ and cut stuff out......they have done an amazing job so far and for season 2 looks like they are going to do all with the limited budget to make it work....due to a bump in the budget in season 2 they are getting to film in Iceland and Eastern Europe as well as Ireland (for the most part GOT season 1 was all shot in Northern Ireland).

Its a must see on DVD if no HBO.

Spartacus has about as much to do with history as Star Trek has with NASA...........Boobs, Blood and Violence......that's the reason we watch and enjoy this wacked out show.

The nice thing about the Spartacus story is the lack of historical details which lends itself to creative writing. I wouldn't go so far to say its star trek. A lot is based on history. The representations of roman society prob aren't far off. Nothing wrong with boobs blood and violence :) though. That said, I wanted to see crixis kick more butt.

The sets in Games of Thrones are incredible (the first season cost 50-60 million -checked wiki) whereas in Spartacus most big scenes are done completely using CGI, and even the CGS is not that great. e.g. when Spartacus burns the arena. The characters in the Game of Thrones are complex and well developed, Spartacus falls behind in this respect. But we do love violence and boobs so that makes Spartacus good.

Walking dead is good; I am a big fan of Zombie movies so there is no way I would miss it. Another show that I love is Breaking Bad; it is very very good as well. Apart from the shows I have mentioned, right now I like the big bang theory. Watched the first season of Alcatraz but since it was made by the person responsible for Lost, I wont see more of it. I am sure the end will be as disappointing as Lost. In animated shows I watch The Simpsons and Superjail. If you like violence , Superjail is great !

I wish they could have done the prequel, "Gods of the Arena" first, but I understand it was their only option after Andy Whitfield died. They did a great job with the back story and character development.

HBOs "Rome" was pretty good too.

Absolutely loved it, wish it was the original Naevia that killed Ashur, it would have had more effect. But it was GREAT and I can't believe Lucretia, wow!

It deals with the Spartacus wars. Real event done over the top with the violence and nudity but that is kinda how it most likely was back then.

Star Trek is fictional characters who never lived. So not really digging your comparison.

History nerd like I said who criticizes every little detail like Oenomaus being black even though the real one was from Gaul. An area not known for its blackness.

It is a truly Original and spectacular show from Starz. but be careful. It has way over the top violence and blood. so we should make sure any kids under age of 17 does not watch this show. It is that violent. i think 18 and over can handle it and see it for what it is. Thank you.

usually, i love some spilt blood (well . . . not mine) but i just can't get into spartacus. maybe i'm just not seeing it for what it is. or maybe i can't get 300 out of my head and see it as a cheap knock off. i dunno.

i was all into walking dead, but the second season was such a letdown for me. i could see every plot twist coming a mile away. and the smarts of the first season really seemed to be lacking.

but i'm still lovin' me some game of thrones.

Dude take the show for what it is.......a pure guilty pleasure filled with sex and violence. from a historical perspective very very little is known about Spartacus from before the revolt. its all obscure - the producers have made no secret that they are pulling stuff from their arses using known names of people and places and adding lots of pretty sick stuff im sure the romans would enjoy. this is not a history lesson or anything even close - but its HELUVA fun show.........yeah someone telling me they are watching this show for its historical perspective I bet reads playboy for the articles:twisted:

^ You have to admit though, besides the blood, sex and violence, many of the characters (and subsequently, the plot) are well developed.

The actual PLOT of the show is very underrated. The sex, violence etc help, but the plot is why I watch, it's interesting as hell.

Someone telling you they watch it because they enjoy things from history. It is a historical show based on an actual event. yes they took liberties with stuff which happens in every historical show/movie. but yes my interest in ancient Rome got me to tune in at first.

I enjoy it as well. I hear people saying its so simple and I ask why is that bad. the show is good and I enjoy seeing the characters develop and interact. although I want bad ass Crixis back not the in touch with his feminine side Crixis.

Just finished watching Season 2:Vengeance. The season finale was pretty good.

But still Season 1:Blood and Sand was way better..also Andy Whitfield was waaaayy better as Spartacus than the new guy, Liam McIntyre.
I also liked the storyline of season 1 better.

    SEASON 1‹‹‹‹‹‹‹SEASON 2

I kinda lost interest in the series with Whitfield's death (RIP) and i dont think the series will last long..maybe another season but that's about
