Points earned during the ATP season 2013 from 18+1 tourneys:
Rafa 13,030 > Djoko 12,260.

The 2013 ATP World Tour No.1 is:

I feel a bit sorry for Djokovic, he'll get no credit for 2013.

ITF Player of the Year never gets a mention when the achievements of great players are read out when their list of achievements are mentioned or when they retire. You hear about how many times a guy has won ATP Player Of The Year and you hear about Year-ending #1s, but you don't hear about the ITF award. So its like Djokovic didn't even play 2013. Anyway, at least he's got the Wikipedia dispute going on and the ITF award, even if they are only temporarily relevant.

Ok, let's resolve this. Nadal was better than Djokovic. ATP uses a clear system and all players accept it. ATP has more value than ITF.

But Djokovic was very close for Nadal. So, Nadal fans give credit to Djokovic and don't gloat. The gap wasn't as big as you think. Fifth set going to Nole at RG and Nole edges it out.

Both had an amazing year by anyone's standards. Even Fed would take Djokovic's year and be proud.

In other sports they use centiseconds and a photo finish to decide the winner. It doesn't matter how big is a gap between the winner and the runner-up. The winner is the winner is the winner.

The gap between Rafa and Djoko is 770 points. One point would have been enough to decide the 2013 ATP World Tour No.1! The rules are the rules.

I agree actually. That's why I said Rafa was nr.1.

But some Nadal fans make it sound like Djokovic did nothing compared to Rafa.

This is in response to Chico, the trollking who likes to inflate everything that Djoker does. Djoker had an awesome year, it just was clearly second best.

Lots of trolls are blaming me for their trolling, which is really ridiculous.

I admit Nadal had a great year (partially due to luck and Pascal Maria, I must say) and was slightly ahead after USO, despite Novak being way more successful at slams. However the 24 match unbeaten streak, last Masters in Paris and WTF clearly sealed the year for Novak. The ITF obviously agrees with me. I am sorry that biased Nadal fans can't see this, but not much I could do.

Thanks.

In the end, ranking points are what counts and the most reliable piece of data. Current ranking system is perfect and you just have to go with it. Nadal is the well-deserved no.1 and Djokovic is close but clear no.2. Everyone else is far behind these two and ranking points reflects that reality well.

So now the entire year doesn't count in the year end #1, that's rich.

You are filled with bitter whine from sour grapes...

The ATP Rankings period is the immediate past 52 weeks and it is based on calculating points from 18 + 1 (WTF) events.

The Masters in Paris and the WTF aren't the ITF events. There was only one ITF event after the USO - Davis Cup, where Djoko's team lost.
