I have a chance to buy new Babolat Gut in its original packaging at a very good price. How long will the unopened strings last? Thanks.

Natural Gut properly stored and sealed has been known to have a shelf life of 5 - 7 years. That said, I do not keep mine for over a year. A shop owner/tennis coach friend of mine has some natty gut that is 8+ years old that he still uses in his teaching sticks and it does fine.

Thanks Jerry. I assume normal room temperature in a dry place is proper storage.

I have strung some vintage rackets with natural gut that was from the 60's (maybe earlier). I've strung them at only 50#, but I was told they played great.
