Just wondering out there. How many of you guys lead up your racquets or customize your racquets.

What do you use, what did you change or add, and why?

I sometimes lead my head in the 3 and 9 o'clock positions. I also use 16 and 18 gut's... then I throw on an overgrip.

Technically speaking, we all customize. When we say "String it with NXT. 60 Mains and 55 Crosses."

I've told my lead tape story enough times on here....

I've tried leading up my racquets several times, but I always end up getting frustrated and ripping it all off. What usually happens is that I keep adding weight to get the feel I want, and the next time I pick up my racquet I realize it's over 13 oz. and way too heavy for me!

Almost all of my are customized in some way. Matter of fact, I just leaded up a tour 10 ve mid today and it played and served way better.

I think a better question for the TW boards is how many people play with completely stock racquets not modified in any way.

let's see leather grip, a little lead at 3 and 9 and in the handle, vibe damp, head tape, and I am good to go. If I could find a perfect racquet that didn't need modification I would. May be a Vantage racquet is in order :)

4g at 3 & 9, 5g on handle with leather grip and overgrip, rubber band dampener, I must admit, a previous post stated a nblade leaded up to the hilt, you should have just bought a tour 90?

Hey I am not saying everybody needs the lead.:) It's a terrific racquet with or without lead. I just like the extra heft. No vibration dampener...now that's just plain crazy. ;)

I like to have diff natural gut combinations, along with rackets with diff combinations of lead and customized leather grips. Most players gofor matched rackets but I like to have diff rackets in my tournament bag sorta like golfers have diff clubs depending on the conditions and my feelings.

I lead up the head, lead up the handle, increase grip size, overgrips, several base grips.

I'm a freaking weirdo about how I like my racquets :D

i thought my mfil 300 was too light so what i did was:

    (under the replacement grip)
4 inches of gamma lead tape on each side of the handle = 4 grams in all
1 inch of gamma lead tape on the top and bottom of the handle = 1 gram
2 inches of gamma lead tape on both sides of the inside of the throat= 2 grams
= 7 grams of lead tape total on the racquet +:
    yonex super grap overgrip
and gamma head tape along both sides of the racquet head
all that + the dunlop dampener + strung with pro hurricane 17L mains at 60 and sensatioon 17L crosses at 62

all comes out to be 12.0 - 12.1 ounces. anyone with an mfil 300, i seriously recommend you try this setup. feels absolutely amazing and i played considerably better with it that when it was completely stock. definitely enhances the playability of this awesome racquet.

Flexpoint Prestige with a volkl leather grip, wilson pro over grip, sampras O dampener, and 10 grams of lead at 3/9. 12.8oz, 10 pts head light.

Wouldn't want it any other way...unless it was a PC600...

But golfers use about 15 different sticks each round ... for completely different reasons than we do.

If I have only two sticks ... they are matched. If I have more than two ... I changed the string setups -- but not the weight & balance.

Yonex RDS 001 Mid with 6 grams of lead at 3 & 9. I did it because I wanted the racquet to be less head heavy and the added plow through feel doesn't hurt either.

I have a dunlop 300g all leaded up at 3 and 9. If i remember correctly I think i added about 3oz to the frame. It's heavy but man it serves like a mad man. I'l be lucky to get the stick on avolley though.

read my sig but mainly for more power, sweetspot enlargement and to prevent the twist of the racquet when hitting forehand off centre....big difference....the racquet produces a much solid feel now

You know, I have to say that Travelerajm definitely doesn't customize his racquet. He seems like a stock kind of guy. ;)

Hewitt-- Overgrips make grips bigger, like, wider around.
