Next year is Justine Henin's big comeback year. How many slams do you see her winning.
it's going to be tough because she's not a top ranked player so she will face the top ranked players in the early rounds and some of them could take her out of the tournaments.
it's possible that she will not win any GS in 2010.
She has the French in the bag I think. At 50% she would win the French vs the current field, and her draw there is irrelevant. The others I am not so sure on. I am guessing she will win 1 of the other 3 though. So 2 slams.
Logic would say :
Clijsters come back from years out of the game, has minimal training, wins grand slam at first attempt.
Henin was a better player than Clijsters, so Henin should achieve this in theory as well.
more than 6? maybe
I think the French is her surest bet. The only ones I can see being a real threat to her there would be Clijsters and Serena. Serena without Henin at the French had to struggle just to get to the quarters last year, and on clay in the past 2 years hasn't been anything spectacular. Clijsters could be her biggest roadblock, but seeing as she used to be Henin's whipping post, Henin has a good chance if she finds anything close to good form.
The australian, I say she will be to rusty for, Clijsters won the open off little play, but she had more tournament and matches to find some rhythm before than Henin will have going into Melbourne. Wimby, a decent show given how abysmal the current grass court field is outside the Williams, and with Venus getting older, Serena may be the only one who may stop her, but I still don't think she'll win it. The US Open would be my second best bet, but then if she is dedicated I think she will have a good enough rating to really be set up for a nice run. But we'll just have to wait and see. I voted 1, the French, but I think she could possibly take 2.
If Henin were an ATP player I would advise her to stay at home because she will lose every match against players as Del Potro,Davydenko,Verdasco and so on.
But the scenario is the WTA so she can go out confidently of her home because the only oponent she will have will be Kim Clijsters...
I would predict 2.
1-2. Definatly FO as everyone on tour is just awful on clay while she is the defination of brilliance. Perhaps a AO or USO aswell. Hope for a Wimbledon but doubt it very much.
Slight error so I fixed it.
IMHO of course. Kim's was a special one-off.
Other tour players are (hopefully) wide awake now.
It doesnt matter if they are awake when they suck. Who can stop her on clay if she is even half what she was for instance. The 8 people who voted 0 are complete retards.
2( French and WImby)
She beat Flavia Penneta in an exhibition match so I dont think that many top players will give her problems. I'll say two
I thought she wasn't coming back until Wimbledon? if she plays all year I'd say at least one, no more than 3.
Flavia played well last year but it's just an exo
i consider her a fave (if not THE fave) at the fo, so i'll go one. i think she'll get into the second week at the other slams but i'm not quite seeing her take any of those. the french seems like her best bet.
yes She said she will come back at wimby..
So I say none.
one thing we know is it's possible for henin to regain the number 1 spot without winning any grand slam title, after all, jankovic and safina both did that in 2009
I'm going to say 1 to 2 slams for 2010.
I can't see her winning a major next year. She should have stayed retired.
No one is more mentally tough.
AO may be too soon for win.
FO is likely as long as she's healthy.
USO ... very good chance as she'll likely still be motivated and rounding into great form ... IF... she's healthy.
It will be great to have both her and Clijsters back this coming year.
Her first tournament back will be Sydney, then AO.
I think this is pretty much what I would say as well...however, I wonder, if she adopts the strategy of serving/volleying/attacking tennis that Mauresmo used in 2006, if she could finally breakthrough at Wimby. On paper at least, I can't think of a really good reason why she can't win Wimby.
I would be surprised (positively) if she wins any major next year.
Lol he copied and pasted "e" I think, so he was actually right.
Actually, she is scheduled play Brisbane. And she just recently announced a WC request for Sydney. Sounds like she is wanting the matches before AO. That's what I have been reading anyway.
You know, as I was writing that I was thinking 'are you sure Topaz, or is it Brisbane'...lol, I knew it was one of them!!!
I would really like to see her play! She is one of the few that I never caught in Miami. Henin and Clijsters, actually!
PS...off topic, one more exam to go and then I start A&P next semester! Yikes!
wow. henin just beat petrova. she's on a roll.
wtf get lost waste of time what would have given me a laugh was the number pie
