Once strung, how much do strings stretch and lose their tension after a couple months? I get my racket strung at 56 lbs, and after a couple months, it feels like it has more power and less control, so I'm thinking that the strings are getting stretched quite a bit from the original tension.

Is there anyway to accurately measure the tension of strings once strung? Does anyone know on average how much tension you lose after a couple months?

You can buy a string meter. Last time I looked they cost around 20, and they measure the tension of the strings.

All strings loose tension - some quickly. Most will agree that gut holds its tension better than other types of string. If you have a particular string, someone might have a better answer for you...

Average strings will lose 8 - 15% in the first 24 hours. After that they continue to drop, but the rate varies according to construction.
