How Much Do You Pay For A Restring?

The only annoying thing is that my stringer looks down on inexpensive strings such as the SPPP or MSV Focus Hex and always adds a smarta*s comment on them.

Holy guacamole! My stringer does the same thing! I wanted PSG Original the other day and he asked "Why do you want THAT one? Get Babolat N Vy it's better it feels the same but better."... WTF! Just string the f-ing racquet.

This is so funny. After I got my own stringer, I was talking to the pro who used to string my racquets. He was asking me what strings I had on my racquet (He only stocks Head, Prince, Wilson, and Babolat).

I told him MSV Focus Hex and he was like "What is that? The free crap string that came with your stringer?"

Ummmmm. No.

As to the original question - I use to pay $22 for Synthetic gut, $25 for a synthetic gut/multi hybrid, $28 for Kevlar/multi, and $25-$28 for poly.

With my own stringer and MSV reels, my cost is now $5 or less per string job.

65$ for a string job? What?

For a quality nat. gut, thats a very reasonable price.Remember it costs $43.00 just to buy a set, and if your stringer gets the racquet back in a few days later demanding a free job because you shanked a shot and snapped the string near a grommet, even though it is not the stringers fault, then how much profit was made.

My cost is $2.35 per string job because I do it myself. However if I had it strung anywhere else, it would cost me about $30, which is WAY too much...

Always string myself, although i took one racquet to the shop 6 months ago.
Cost me 22,50 euro's and is was glad to pay it. The stringer-guy was glad to see that stick go (i should've asked for poly ):

that's nasty! and i thought my 18x20's were tough...

I pay the price of the string. Labor is free.

This is, of course, because I string for myself :p

But if I were to get it done by a pro, I could expect a $10-$15 labor fee, and the racquet back in two-three days. It takes up to a week if business is extremely busy.

Yep same here.

5 bucks! (tennis team member) I usually buy the strings...or else its 10 dollars for a set of cyber blues(Thats the strings+labor for 10 dollars altogether)

i started stringing myself like a year ago... i don't even care if i do perfect job or not... it ain't rocket science, it really doesn't make much difference, you couldn't possible do a job where it affects your game by much

if i were you, i'd get that cheap luxilon, or just buy a stringer... i think drop weight is good enough

Thanks! I've been thinking the exact same thing! :D I know dropweights aren't perfect but considering they're like, 100 quid, and an electric one is 3,000... it's well worth it.

i used to pay about $20-25/per racquet.

i would encourage buying a stringer as well. i purchased one off **** for about $180. within 4 months, i made my money back in what i saved by stringing myself.

let's say the avg cost of a stringing job is $20/racquet. if you purchase a reel and string yourself, you'll probably be at no more than $4/raquet and (eventually) 30 minutes of your time.
