I was using an APD with 8 strips of lead tape. How much does each strip of lead tape add? Each strip was probably around 3 inches long if the length matters. I'm not sure if they come in a lead tape pack where they are all the same size or something.

It definitely varies. Check the lead tape section at Shop TW; it will give you the weight per inch for different widths of lead tape. Should get you in the ballpark.

It's about 1 gram per square inch.

    usually for 1/4" thick tape, it's about 1 inch = 1/4 g

so you would need about 12" to get a .1oz buildup.

What is the width? is it 1/4" or 1/2"? Did it have any marking on it?

    Since you have 24" total (8 pieces x 3")...
If it's 1/4" wide lead tape, it's approximately 6 grams.
If it's 1/2" wide lead tape, it's approximately 12 grams.
