When you leave a reference for someone could you please include their email address they used for communication and their email they used for paypal if it was was different. Also include their first and last name if you got it and the city and state they are from. I'm finding references that just list their TW id saying they are a good seller but no personal info so a scammer can just take that reference and claim to be that TW person.

I personally would not want my personal info posted on an open forum. I would also not post someone elses personal info...liability reasons.

    Are You Insane???!!!

Then we might as well provide SS number and and bank account along with pin number. And...ahh..what the heck, let's leave a few CC numbers to sweeten the deal.
Oh, yes. Fingerprints. How about that?

The biggest weapon against scam is your brain. Use it.
Hint: you go to "for sale" section and use search option with user's nickname and you get email address...

I think a TT buyer/seller DNA database is in order. Please send all "samples" to OP.

Hard to believe you've been a TT member since June of 2004... and you're asking for all this.

I think the OP just wanted to have a laugh. You know by reading replies. He figured people would post something like that.
Because if he did not...then....really do not want to call names here.

Guys guys guys... what is wrong with all of you. This was taken from feedback for yours truly, stating my name, email and city.

"Baher from Kissimmee is a great buyer and player .

    hurculez@aol.com"

So if all the feedback ever posted on TW says 'courtrage' is a great buyer then you will have to find who courtrage is and dig out his email. Whats keeping some guy from emailing you about a for sale post you have, lie and say he has feedback on the boards as 'courtrage' and wants to trade for your frames. but the guy actually emails you from jsmith@gmail.com, says to mail the frames you are trading to Joe Smith in boston, ma. or tell you he is selling the frame you are looking for in your wanted ad and to send paypal payment to jsmith@gmail.com. if you know 'courtrage' = baher from kissimmee then you know the guy just grabbed a username with good feedback to con you.

why's that? I hate when i look up references and all they say is 'tennisdude' or whatever is a good buyer/seller. how do i know i'm actually talking to that guy? for instance... Bud, I have a signed pete sampras OPS used in his first USO final. you can have it for 200$...i have loads of feedback on the boards as 'tennisdude'...

act now and i'll let you have it for 100$ ;)

you know the saying...if it sounds too good to be true...

and i agree w/ BobFL. use some common sense. in order to do that, you might need to call some brain cells into play.

Uh, no. There's a reason forums use fake names. Most people prefer anonymity. The big action site doesn't even do what you're talking about, and that's an actual formal exchange of good site.

I see the point you're making.. but I doubt that posting such information would reduce scamming. There are ways around anything. I agree with BobFL.. using one's brain and common sense is the way to go.

I have nothing but several positive references on here.. but if I find out someone posts my personal info online, they will get a very unwelcome visit.
