How you choose a racquet

Hi. I played tennis for 13 years and now, after 12 years, I want to rejoin the court.
I am 1.70x58kg (5’7x128). One handed backhand (weak side), all court with preference to baseline, very fast moving.

I live in a place with no great tennis store, hence I don’t have the chance to demo 100 racquets. TTW demoing service is a little complex as you have to wait 7-10 days every time to receive racquets, and deposit 100€ m. I never tried much racquets. Lastly, I played with a pure drive for years when I was 12, then switched to a pure control 360 zylon just cause my coach bought it and I kinda liked it (my last and today’s racquet).

As for my style... I remember stringing the zylon at 60 because it worked like that for me. I put power and spin on it with quads, fast/complete swings and torso. I remember to “work” the ball hard with the body, compared to the classic passive player (passive referred to the style, not the efficacy). I’m not a heavy spinner, neither a flat player.
I never was near the high part of the classification, but I had good technique and never joined the courts for the amount of time it requires you to make the big step. I’m just clarifying I’m not near a beginner.

2 months ago I played with a friend that has a pro kennex q+ tour 300 and tried it. I remember it being not that different from my zylon, except for some more free power and head weight. But I could be wrong, I demoed it for 20 minutes and don’t remember the feel.

I don’t want to spend 190$ on a racquet now. I don’t want a definitive racquet neither a racquet that I change every six months as new editions come up. I just want something to play around, have fun and regain my form without arming.

I was debating how good could be a pro staff 95vs97 for me, almost decided to buy a new pro staff 95 (lot of control, easy on the arm, good for my fast swings), then looked up the textreme tour 95 that seems better overall but wait it’s 320gr maybe too much for my weight? Hey and the Pro Kennex q+tour300 could be the solution... but wait yonex dr98 got fantastic reviews and I can get it used for 100€.. arf, I suddenly saw a YouTube video of people playing with the new pro staff 97s and their balls seem to be really heavy, but it’s so expensive. Maybe I should stick with the original ps95 cause I’m not going to play tournaments with Roger, hence who cares?

Can someone help me?

I would get an used racquet of you choice, play with it and if you did not like it, you can go and buy something else. I am talking a racquet that cost you maybe $60 U.S. including shipping. This will give some background as to what types of racquets that you really like. Make sure the racquet's string are new, however. Stringing cost are expensive!

In my area there's no demo service, so I also ask friends to try theirs if they allow me. and if I get way too curious about a certain racquet that i can't try, I buy a used one and if sell it later there's not much cost

So what should I do?

You know they have continued to make your old pure controls through the years, if you liked that? It became the "pure storm" then back to "pure controls," now the " strike VS". Should be plenty found on fleabay for cheap to at least try again. You might be able to resell if you dont like. At least then you can try a few different ones for minimal outlay if your lucky.

As was mentioned you can use the racquet finder on TW to find your old zylon control, then look for ones with similar specs?
