Of course I know he's trolling. I just think it's unnecessary to start threads displaying false information and then backing it up with stupid comments.

It's like he's trying to be JoelDali but he epic fails.

    I am 14.

How old are you? If you say anything above 20, I will find it amazing that such immaturity can come from someone that old.

Also, what part of the Mid-Atlantic are you from?

Damn! I just placed an order for a BLX 90 Tour noooooooooooooooooooo...

Just kiddin' :) A new racket won't bother me. I still love the BLX 90 and won't switch quickly. I doubt anything wilson puts out will be revolutionary. The BLX 90 was only a minor change on an already amazing racket (K90). I doubt Fed's going to switch either.

But if these people who purportedly saw this match were also part time Wilson reps, or at least their last name was Wilson, or went to a high school named Wilson, the OP's post would be much more believable.

Don't make me... I don't want to... @zapvor (usually solid poster), you left me no choice...

There was an interview with him in the New York Times a few weeks ago. One of the questions was why would not he use a larger or more modern racquet. To which his response was that he does not mind using a larger racquet, but it takes time to try various options out and experiment, and he does not have that.

    --
My interpretation of this was that whatever problems plague his game this year, he does not perceive the racquet to be the issue (otherwise he would have switched altready). It is quite clear that to him, investing time in himself (ie. technique or mental resilience), is far more important than investing time in a new racquet.

he needs to go on the Petros plan. Screw ranking and focus on majors. After the US Open he should experiment with some new sticks and not worry about winning or losing until the 2012 Australian. He still has what it takes to win a major but he’s burning himself out on the mickey mouse ****.

That's because he's a pro. Pros know that tennis is not all about the racquet. Only recreational players think tennis is all about the racquet.

Ok, Fed should seriously think about switching to that 95 box beam he's hidding in the bag if he wants to have any chance at the US Open. He's not even getting in the semifinals anymore.

And neither are Nadal nor Murray. Maybe they should both switch to 130 sq. in. racquets? :)

Some pros are knowledgeable, but there's a Delray Beach thread in the stringing section and the stringers reported several pros brought in rackets with mismatched lead tape on the frame. A portion or a piece of tape on one side would be missing and the pro had no idea it was gone. I would think the top guys don't have to think as they pay for perfect setup but the journey men level apparently has some guys who really don't care or understand too much about racket setup.

yea. i think for guys at the very top they probably know even less since someone else is taking care of it for them. basically they just hit with it and decide on feel. all the work is left to someone else

I'll never forget in ringer league we were playing against a former Harvard #2 and he broke both of his sticks and borrowed some 3.5 chicks Wilson Hyper 100 sqi clunker and he still crushed us. I swear to God he was still serving 125 bombs with that girl's raquet.

It was like he was still using his Babolats.

It was right at that moment that I realized we (you and I) all suck at tennis badly and should quit the game and sell off our RF polos for 50% losses.

    Federer today interviewed at Cincy:

“Should I change racquet head size? Should I change strings? It’s always something that is in my mind. Why not use the great technology they have instead of just saying, I’m so happy with what I have; don’t even talk to me.”

He's thinking though, which is a sign. The seed of doubt is there.
As for technology.... I think the only people using the "technology" are prince with the o3 and exo3.

See what? Has he actually changed to a bigger head size in the last 9 years?

People think about a lot of things. Doesn't mean they actually do any of it.

No because a bigger racquet doesn't necessarly improve your game. A bigger size will give you more forgiveness and more power but less control. So this is an optimization problem. Seeing how virtually all the pros play with racquets between 95" and 100", we can safely assume that that's the optimum racquet size range.

Nadal and Murray are already in that range so they have nothing to gain by going to a bigger racquet. Federer, on the other hand, is bellow the optimum range, plus he shanks a lot, so there's a good chance that his game will improve if he goes to a 95" racquet.

Federer switched from a 85" to a 90" (a WHOLE 5") at the end of 2002 and shortly after he became the god of tennis. I don't understand your sarcasm.

If Federer switches to a 95" box beam racquet and wins the US Open, then half of the people on this forum will probably switch to that. I know I will. Even Breakpoint will probably switch.
