Hi guys, I am exploring different hybrid combi and was speaking to a pro stringer in my area. My current set up is VS gut Mains @ 55/ Alu Rough crosses @ 53 on my PC600 Since I had pretty much decided I should stick to nat gut in the mains.. my issue was what string for the crosses. The Pro suggested using a slippery poly so the main guts would snap back easily, and also to avoid any irregular shaped polys to prevent unnecessary stress on the gut - this I agree But next he went on to suggest that I should really drop my poly tension to mid-low 40lbs This second part I am still trying to digest... wouldnt such a huge tensional difference may cause the frame to deform? He sounded really confident and seems to know what he is doing so that makes me even more puzzled. So how much should the a maximum allowable difference in main/cross be?
