Hybrid Natural Gut and MSV Focus Hex?

Has anyone tried a hybrid set up with Natural Gut in the mains and MSV Focus Hex in the crosses? I'm thinking that might be a nice alternative to ALU Rough since ALU drops tension so quickly and continues to do so (especially in the summer for me). The MSV provides a similar bite, holds better tension, but doesn't last as long. However as a cross on Natural Gut I'm thinking this might work out, that is if it doesn't eat away at the gut too fast!

Anyone experiment with this yet? Or an alternative to gut with MSV focus?

I once tried VS and Hepta Twist and found the HT too powerful. Switched to CoFocus crosses and things worked much better.

I've used other hex strings and they cut through the gut mains too fast. I don't think there's a lot to be gained with textured crosses in a gut/poly hybrid as far as the bite you would get with the textured sting in the mains. Co-focus makes an excellent cross though.

I string my rakets with VS Team mains / Black Code crosses at 51 lbs, and I want to try MSV CO-Focus.

With black code the raket feels muted and more control oriented, when I tried the MSV Co-Focus at the same tension all, and I say ALL the balls where flying around, i could not keep the ball in the court it feel horrible to me, the only good thing was I was getting a lot of spin, it was ridiculous, but even with this spin I could not keep the ball in the court.

Maybe I will try the MSV at 53 o 54 maybe with the difference in tension it will feel different.

why would you string the poly at the same tension as the gut? Should be minimum 10% lower. If you strung your poly crosses higher than the gut you will significantly reduce the *feel* and performance of the gut simply because it won't be the dominant string in the stringbed. Believe it or not you will actually find the stringjob MORE controllable if you LOWER the poly tension. If you are doing the gut at 51, try the cross at 45-46.

MSV will still feel like plastic even in gut hybrid, but if you like the feel of MSV, then that's a non-issue.

I definitely prefer the feel of Lux ALU in the cross to that of MSV. ALU gives you a higher level of playability, spin, and control. But then again, neither ALU nor MSV is good at sustaining playability and tension.

If you have not tried, give VS + Prince Beast hybrid a try. Beast retains playability and tension longer than any poly I have tried thus far. I prefer the 16g over the 17g of Beast.
