if one of the bryans got injured before a davis cup tie, before the draws/teams had been established...who would the US use in doubles? could they bring in john mcenroe to play with the other twin?

they have alot of options actually. Many of the us players have a respectable doubles game and have worked together. Andy roddick and robby gineperi played doubles, and so did james blake and mardy fish. Its not as great as the bryan bros, but eh what can u do.

They'd pair bring Agassi and Sampras out of retirement and pair them in doubles.

Pete Sampras and John McEnroe. McEnroe just won an ATP doubles tournament last year at the age of 47. I think these two would still make a formidable doubles team. With Sampras' huge serve on a fast indoor surface, it would be easy pickings at the net for McEnroe. :)
